Kobbie Mainoo has been summoned to the England squad for the first time, as the talented young player from Manchester United has been added to Gareth Southgate’s team at a later stage.

Kobbie Mainoo has received his first-ever call-up to the England squad.

The young individual was added to the team at a later time after Gareth Southgate made a formal statement about the roster last week.

Mainoo has performed exceptionally well this season.
Mainoo, who is 18 years old, was first selected to join Lee Carsley’s Under-21 side and has previously represented England U19s.

However, Southgate seems to have reconsidered his decision and has included Mainoo in his squad.

The prodigious talent from Manchester United now has the chance to make his inaugural appearance either against Brazil on Saturday or against Belgium on Tuesday.

He is the third player in the current team to receive his first call-up, joining Jarrad Branthwaite and Anthony Gordon.

This is the most recent development in Mainoo’s rapid ascent, during which the midfielder has hardly missed a single game since joining the United first-team in November.

Mainoo’s impressive achievements have garnered attention, affording him the opportunity to assert his candidacy for inclusion in the Euro 2024 squad.

Ian Wright, a passionate supporter, has voiced his disapproval of Southgate’s decision to exclude Mainoo from the group.

Instead of selecting Kalvin Phillips, Southgate, aged 53, chose Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson, Conor Gallagher, Jude Bellingham, and James Maddison for the midfield position.

The England team that will compete against Brazil and Belgium has been announced.

The goalkeepers selected for the team are Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, and Sam Johnstone. The defenders in the team are Kyle Walker, John Stones, Lewis Dunk, Jarrad Branthwaite, Joe Gomez, Ezri Konsa, Harry Maguire, and Ben Chilwell.

The midfielders in the team are Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson, Conor Gallagher, Jude Bellingham, James Maddison, and Kobbie Mainoo.

The forwards selected for the team are Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jarrod Bowen, Ollie Watkins, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford, Ivan Toney, and Anthony Gordon.

Nevertheless, the manager of the England national team was questioned about Mainoo’s omission and he insinuated that Mainoo was close to being selected.

Southgate remarked that certain players, such as Kobbie Mainoo, Harvey Elliott, and Rico Lewis, are performing particularly well. Archie Gray is performing excellently at Leeds.

“In my opinion, [Mainoo] is performing exceptionally well for a young player.”

“We are always quick to promote young players to the senior team, but in this case, the player has only played a few games, so we need to exercise caution.”

“We believe it is necessary to provide him with the opportunity to grow and progress at his own pace.”

“However, he is currently having exceptional experiences at Manchester United and appears to possess admirable qualities.”
