Man Utd may be able to recruit Manuel Ugarte at a reduced price as PSG approaches a deal for Joao Neves.

Manchester United has already determined who their top target is when it comes to acquiring a new defensive midfielder.

The team and midfielder Manuel Ugarte have reached personal terms, but they have not yet reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Uruguayan star is valued at £59 million by the French champions, although United appears to prefer a loan agreement with a buyout clause.

Given that Les Parisiens are very close to completing Joao Neves’ signing, we believe there may be more opportunity for negotiation in the days ahead.

Last night, the 19-year-old’s player-plus-cash contract was concluded by the Ligue 1 holders.

As part of the deal, Renato Sanches will return to Benfica, and he will join them for £59 million.

This might make it possible for United to sign Ugarte at a reduced price. During the previous term, the 23-year-old was used as a substitute 14 times.

Towards the end of the season, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and Warren Zaire-Emery were ahead of the former Sporting player in the midfield hierarchy.

Neves’ arrival is not expected to improve his predicament. The 19-year-old’s position as a defensive midfielder will probably see him start regularly.

Given his relative youth and transfer worth, Ugarte appears to be the most likely player to leave PSG in order to recover their investment.

We think United might take advantage of the circumstances to sign Ugarte at a reduced price. They may work out an agreement for his services that would be between £40 and £45 million.

We won’t be shocked if the club suggests signing him on a season-long loan with a buyout clause in the summer due to the tight budget.

The “tireless” star’s great ball-playing skills would make him an excellent addition to United.

Last season, he had a 91 percent passing accuracy rate. Impressively, he won 1.6 interceptions, 7.2 ball recoveries, and 3.9 tackles per game in addition to 6.4 duels.

Ugarte appears to be a worthy replacement for Casemiro, who has displayed indications of decline. He would be a far better addition than players like Youssouf Fofana.
