Arsenal Set to Offload Four Players to Fund Moves for Osimhen and Isak
The Mirror claims that in order to pay for a transfer for Galatasaray and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Arsenal is willing to let go of four players this summer.
The Gunners have placed second in the Premier League the last two seasons, and it looks like they will do the same this year. Even though Mikel Arteta’s team has made great progress, their failure to sign a top striker has frequently been pointed to as the gap in their title challenge.
The Striker Search at Arsenal
Ahead of the summer transfer season, Arsenal has been connected to a number of well-known forwards, including Viktor Gyökeres, Benjamin Šeško, Alexander Isak, and Victor Osimhen. Although these strikers would still fetch high pay and transfer fees, Ollie Watkins, Lautaro Martínez, and Liam Delap are other names on their radar.
According to reports, Arsenal is prepared to let go of Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Oleksandr Zinchenko in order to finance a significant forward acquisition. Together, the four are worth about £55 million, although Arsenal might not be able to recover their full market value because several of the players are reaching the conclusion of their contracts.
Their exit, however, would drastically cut the club’s payroll, saving up an estimated £500,000 a week, which may go towards paying a new, high-profile hire.
Is Osimhen Going to Join Arsenal?
After winning the 2023 CAF Player of the Year award, Osimhen has been playing well for Galatasaray this season, tallying 23 goals and dishing out five assists in 29 games across all competitions. With a reputed £68 million release clause, the 26-year-old, who is presently on loan from Napoli, is anticipated to depart permanently in the summer.
Arsenal is interested in the Nigerian striker, but their chances of acquiring him are still slim. Several elite European teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool, are showing interest in Osimhen. These teams are all looking for a top-tier No. 9.
Furthermore, even though Arsenal’s project under Arteta appears prospective, Osimhen’s choice may be influenced by the team’s recent lack of success. He is nearing his prime at age 26, thus a team with a more impressive trophy record would be more appealing to him.
What Will Happen to Arsenal Next?
The way Arsenal handles the summer transfer window will probably depend on where they finish in the Premier League. They will be better able to draw in top players, like Osimhen, if they make it to the Champions League. If they don’t succeed, though, they might have few options, which would make other targets like Isak, Šeško, or Gyökeres more feasible.
If the Gunners want to finally get the top striker they have been lacking, they must act quickly as the summer transfer window draws near.
