Amad Diallo, positioned on the left side, secured a decisive victory for Manchester United in a thrilling FA Cup match.

Amad Diallo, a highly effective substitute, secured an astonishing 4-3 victory in extra time against fierce rivals Liverpool, propelling Manchester United into the semi-finals of the FA Cup and revitalizing their season.

The highly-anticipated confrontation between these great rivals took place at Old Trafford, capturing the attention of everyone. The match lived up to the expectations, with the momentum swinging back and forth until reaching an exciting finale.

Scott McTominay scored an early goal for United, but Liverpool seemed poised to dominate the game after Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah scored towards the end of the first half, giving Jurgen Klopp’s team the advantage.

Despite being under siege, Erik ten Hag’s team showed limited resistance. However, substitute Antony was able to equalize against the dominant opposition in the 87th minute.

Marcus Rashford squandered a good opportunity to secure victory in the quarter-final with the last kick of regular time, as the unpredictable turn of events persisted in the additional period.

Harvey Elliott, a substitute for Liverpool, delivered a significant blow in the 105th minute. However, despite the presence of United fan Tyson Fury, the hosts managed to recover from a difficult situation.

Rashford equalized for United in the 112th minute, then Diallo scored on the counterattack during stoppage time in extra time, causing a significant impact at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old player was shown a red card after earning a second caution for removing his jersey amid the extremely loud celebrations on a day that solidifies the winger’s position in the history of Manchester United and prepares for a semi-final match against Championship team Coventry.

The Sunday match started with a fast-paced and chaotic conflict, characterized by a surprise strong performance from United. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Rashford, who had just returned to the team, made early attempts to score.

Although the game was not completely dominated by one team, Salah managed to strike a powerful shot back towards the goal. However, United successfully converted their early advantage into a goal in the 10th minute.

Alejandro Garnacho opted to shoot rather than pass, and although it was not a wise option, it turned out to be advantageous as Caoimhin Kelleher’s deflection caused the ball to loop, allowing McTominay to extend and score.

In the 35th minute, the midfielder had the opportunity to increase United’s lead, but he shot directly at Liverpool’s goalie following Kobbie Mainoo’s impressive movement and a cutback from Rashford.

Liverpool intensified their efforts following that. Andre Onana successfully prevented Luis Diaz from scoring, and Wataru Endo quickly passed United’s goalkeeper. However, the goal was disallowed due to an offside in the preceding play.

United, who were becoming more disheveled, neglected to pay attention to those previous warning signs and as a result, they were penalized in the 44th minute.

Liverpool’s center-back, Jarell Quansah, effortlessly advanced forward, allowing Darwin Nunez to set up Mac Allister, who took a touch and struck a shot that deflected off Mainoo and went in.

In stoppage time, the 9,000 visiting supporters burst into cheers and stood up once more.

Bruno Fernandes’ appeal for a foul by Joe Gomez was ignored, and he then sent a cross, resulting in Nunez’s effort being saved and Salah forcefully scoring from the rebound.

Liverpool sensed an opportunity as Manchester United left significant gaps in their defense, and Andre Onana prevented a shot from Nunez from narrowly entering the goal.

Prior to Mac Allister’s free-kick hitting the roof of the net, the striker and Dominik Szoboszlai made attempts, as certain United fans chanted offensive songs.

Onana made a stunning save against Nunez while Liverpool appeared to be on track for an easy victory.

However, Antony, who has frequently failed to meet expectations since his arrival in 2022, had a different plan. He seized a stray ball inside the penalty area, swiftly turned around, and successfully scored with a low shot using his less dominant right foot.

Old Trafford erupted in excitement as Manchester United just escaped a goal when an Elliott cross-shot struck the post after Onana made a mistake. United had a golden opportunity to secure victory with the last kick of the game.

Christian Eriksen’s lofted pass sent Rashford in on goal with just Kelleher to overcome, but Rashford’s controlled touch was followed by a narrowly missed low attempt.

Although there was a slight suggestion of offside, everyone inside Old Trafford was shocked. Additionally, both teams had opportunities when extra time began.

The initial period was concluding when Elliott attempted a shot from a distance of 25 yards. His strike was deflected off Eriksen’s boot, passed through Harry Maguire’s legs, and successfully evaded Onana.

Both teams were fatigued, yet, United, playing in a disorganized formation, persisted in their efforts.

Maguire witnessed a shot being blocked, and in the 112th minute, Diallo intercepted a fatigued Nunez pass, initiating an offensive move that resulted in McTominay setting up Rashford to defeat Kelleher.

McTominay passed the ball wide and Manchester United successfully prevented Liverpool from scoring a goal. They then quickly counterattacked through Garnacho and Diallo.

The latter seemed to have taken a wide angle but managed to defeat Kelleher with a precise low strike, causing chaos and then receiving a red card for his exuberant celebration.
