Bruno Fernandes acknowledges that after a lackluster season and consecutive red cards for Manchester United, he must start contributing in front of goal.

Bruno Fernandes has made it clear that he is desperate to start scoring goals for Manchester United this season.

The captain of United, Fernandes, has not scored in ten games for his team this year, despite scoring for Portugal in a 2-1 victory over Scotland last month. This season, Fernandes has hit the crossbar twice for United in goalless draws against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. He said that he must accept responsibility for his lack of goals.

His next goal will be his 80th for United in all competitions, a feat only five international players for the team have accomplished: Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Eric Cantona, and Anthony Martial. Fernandes stated, “As for the club, I want to improve as soon as I get there, and make sure the goals start coming again.” In reference to his goal drought this season.

“Since I’m a prolific goal scorer and have maintained a high standard of performance throughout the years, I must also accept responsibility for it and live up to the expectations placed on me.

“I don’t hold back on my own standards either. I hope to score as soon as I get there and assist the team return to a good level and winning ways as I haven’t scored for the club yet. Portugal will play Scotland at Hampden Park on Tuesday after traveling to Poland on Saturday night in the Nations League.

Following consecutive sending-offs in Manchester United matches, Fernandes recently acknowledged that he has experienced one of the hardest times in his career. Four days later, in the 3-3 draw at Porto after United lost 3-0 to Tottenham, the captain of the team was sent out. And he’s been having trouble, even if the Spurs red was eventually reversed.

We had a difficult time as a team, and it was also one of my roughest personally. Nearly five years with the club, filled with highs and lows, happy and unhappy times “Fernandes shared on Instagram.

“I have personally faced difficulties and setbacks throughout my career, but I have never shied away from responsibility or remained silent during trying times.

“No one is more dissatisfied than me with my own moment, I know it sounds corny and most of you United fans will be sick of hearing it. I’m grateful to everyone who has sent me encouraging words and expressed faith in the team and me, even in this difficult time.”

Next Saturday in the Premier League, United will play Brentford in an attempt to snap their five-game losing skid. Erik ten Hag’s team is now 14th in the standings, having only accumulated 8 points from their first 7 games.
