Is Chilwell’s time at Chelsea coming to an end?

According to The Athletic, Chelsea may contemplate moving their vice-captain and defender, Ben Chilwell, if they receive a significant offer for his services. Chilwell, who plays as a left-back, is one of the highest-paid players at Chelsea.

The 27-year-old star signed a £50 million contract with Chelsea in 2020 after leaving Leicester City. He quickly became an important member for the team in West London. During Thomas Tuchel’s tenure at the club, the English player demonstrated great football skills while playing as a left wing-back, contributing to Chelsea’s victory in the 2021 Champions League.

Nevertheless, the defender has primarily been inactive on the pitch during his tenure with the club. He has sustained many severe injuries, including an ACL tear. The 27-year-old spent most of last season in the injury room due to a hamstring problem.

He holds a prominent position in the team’s locker room at Cobham, which resulted in him being designated as a vice captain by Mauricio Pochettino. Despite his esteemed position, there is speculation that he may go from the Blues this summer due to his injury record, coupled with the mismatch between his playing style and Enzo Maresca’s preferences.

Chelsea considers Chilwell’s options.

Chilwell could be sold by Chelsea.

He definitely has elite qualities, especially when he’s firing on all cylinders. He is one of the club’s most paid players, but because he underperforms during the season, the team is forced to reevaluate his future.

And even though the former Leicester City defender still has three years left on his Stamford Bridge contract, The Athletic speculates that he may say goodbye to Chelsea. If the correct amount is offered, the Blues might think about selling the 27-year-old.
