Breaking News: Liverpool ace Conor Bradley makes honest transfer admission – ‘That’s me done here’
Since joining the main squad, Conor Bradley has left quite the impact on Liverpool; yet, things could have turned out quite differently after the Reds advised him to go out on loan.
This has been a week to remember for Conor Bradley.
The Liverpool starlet took the armband once more on home soil after leading Northern Ireland as captain for the first time, and he led his team to a convincing 5-0 victory over Bulgaria in their UEFA Nations League match on Sunday.
The young right-back’s 2024 has been filled with achievements: he won his first major trophy with the team, established himself as a regular member of Liverpool’s first team, and rapidly established himself as an important member of Arne Slot’s coaching staff.
But Bradley’s worry persisted even after he was urged to sign a loan with League One team Bolton Wanderers at the start of the 2022–2023 season.
The 21-year-old remembers, “They promised me they wouldn’t forget about me when I was out on loan.” However, you don’t fully believe it at the moment. You may think, “I’m kind of done here—a loan.” However, you must never stop working hard.”
“I played about 50 games for Bolton and it was the best thing for me at that time,” Bradley says of his transformative time there. It transformed me from a boy into a man and made me into who I am today. I’m incredibly appreciative that Bolton allowed me to visit and participate in so many games there. It prepared me to return to Liverpool and give it everything I had,” the Liverpool Echo writes.
After more than five years of training at the Liverpool Academy, Bradley recovered from an injury last summer and made a prompt comeback right before Christmas. He demonstrated his value and cemented his position at Anfield by filling in for the absent Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He made 23 games before the conclusion of the season and has already made six appearances this term. Bradley laughed sardonically when asked how difficult it would be to dislodge the starting right-back. “Not bad, is he?” he asked.
However, Liverpool’s busy schedule in a number of competitions indicates that they will have plenty of playing time soon. Furthermore, a more permanent position can become available for Alexander-Arnold next season as his contract is about to expire and no new agreement has been signed.
Bradley said, “Everyone knows how good Trent is.” He’s a unique football player. But my goal remains the same as it was the previous season: I’ll try my hardest to support the squad whenever I have the opportunity to be on the field. It’s about giving it my all and winning the games.
“I am aware that I have some good competition. Hopefully, if I’m training well, Trent will be motivated, which will only benefit the team. Liverpool’s title hopes will be rekindled on Sunday, October 20, at Anfield, when they take on a Chelsea team that is playing well.
The young Northern Irishman stated, “I’ve got some special memories against Chelsea,” as he thought back on his amazing experiences and his remarkable performances against the Blues.
“The first one was my Premier League home debut at Anfield; it was a memorable night that I’ll never forget. Then there was the League Cup final, which, when we were playing the game, seemed like a victory against the odds. We simply had a ton of injuries. I began the game at right-back, but after Ryan (Gravenberch) was hurt, I had to switch to the right wing after 20 minutes.
“I’ll always remember that day; it was an incredible experience. It feels really wonderful to win a trophy for my ideal football team. It was an amazing day. I had also participated in an EFL Trophy final with Bolton the previous year, which saw Plymouth Argyle defeated 4-0 at Wembley, and that was a good experience as well.
I think it helped me prepare for what awaited me the next year. I was prepared. For me, that was a wise move.” “It has been a long journey,” Bradley acknowledges when speaking about his quick ascension this year. “I had made my debut (September 2021 in the League Cup at Norwich) a long time ago.”
“I had to go out on loan, of course, to establish my worth. After returning, I completed my preseason before suffering an injury that kept me out of action for four months. Everything kind of fell into place for me after I got back into shape. Trent’s injury presented me with an opening, which I made every effort to seize. I was performing twice a week at the time, and I loved it.”
Bradley cannot say with certainty when he began to regard himself as a member of Liverpool’s first team. “No, I think it’s just a gradual thing,” he replied. “It’s difficult to explain; you’re accustomed to constantly being the newbie into the workforce and are somewhat anxious when you first arrive since you’re surrounded by celebrities.

He said, “There are undoubtedly some differences.” “It’s really comparable in most places. The new manager, in my opinion, has a slightly more structured approach to how he wants us to play through midfield, build up from the back, and vary it up when we can. Working with the new gaffer has been a tremendous pleasure. Thus far, everything has been excellent, and hopefully this trend will continue.”
He reminisced on his time spent playing for the legendary German manager, saying, “Jurgen wanted us to play in a somewhat chaotic manner at times, and the results seem to support that.”
“But it’s unquestionably more under control now. I can’t keep going up and down the wing, according to the new management. He wants you in a specific position at all times during the game, and he wants me to stay in position and do what he wants. I’ve learnt a lot in the previous few months, and even though it’s highly tactical, I’m loving it.”
Anticipating the goals of the upcoming season, Bradley lays out his expectations in explicit terms: “Winning the Premier League is the goal,” he says. “Winning trophies needs to be your goal as a player for Liverpool Football Club every year. We are aware that playing City and Arsenal, two enormous teams with excellent acquisitions, will be challenging.
As for me, I’m hoping for opportunities to participate in the Champions League. In December 2021, I performed in the renowned San Siro, and it was an unforgettable night for me. I’m excited about additional playing time in that match.”
