Because of the influence Jurgen Klopp has had on the team’s younger players, Lewis Koumas, a teenage star for Liverpool, says he will be “heartbroken” when the German manager departs the Reds. For the past few months, Klopp has given Koumas, one of the academy grads, an opportunity to shine at Anfield.

In the Carabao Cup final on February 25, Liverpool’s youth team defeated Chelsea, and the 18-year-old, who freely admits to being a fan of the team, stayed on the substitutes’ bench. Four days later, in the Reds’ 3-0 FA Cup win over Southampton, he scored on his senior debut.

When Klopp selects his team to play Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night, he may give Liverpool’s young players one more opportunity to shine. Due to their 5-1 first-leg advantage over the Czech team, Klopp will be eager to rest a few of his players.

Liverpool released a video featuring their young players talking about what they want to get out of the rest of the season. In order to honor Klopp’s legacy, Koumas, the son of former Premier League midfielder Jason, has urged his teammates to win more trophies.

“Really, all I hope is that we work for the boss.” When he leaves, it will be devastating, the midfield player acknowledged. “I’m hoping we can get him a couple more awards. He’s amazing. One of the world’s greatest managers, and it’s an honor to learn from him and impart my skills.”

At Anfield, Jarell Quansah has had a breakthrough season. The 21-year-old, who has played in 23 games in all competitions, was outstanding in Sunday’s draw between Liverpool and Manchester City.

“It sounds surreal that we’re involved but at the end of the day we’ve shown we’re good enough and that we can help the team hopefully win the league,” Quansah said, adding that he could play against Prague.

Bobby Clark, meanwhile, is eager to bring home more championships before Klopp steps down following nearly eight years in leadership.

“We all want to win everything, especially for the gaffer because it’s his last season and everything,” the 19-year-old stated. We’ve won the Carabao Cup and, hopefully, there will be many more victories ahead with this group and our potential.”

In recent months, Klopp has had to draw from the depths of his squad due to an injury crisis. Given that Mohamed Salah recovered from a hamstring injury against City the previous weekend, it is unclear if the Liverpool manager will take a chance on the Egyptian against Sparta.
