Man United and Branthwaite have reached an agreement worth £8.3 million annually for Branthwaite to come to Old Trafford, doubling his pay.

The Times reports that the Red Devils have agreed to a deal that will pay the English centre half about £160,000 a week, or £8.3 million annually.

Branthwaite currently makes about £40,000 per week at Everton; a transfer to Manchester United is expected to double his pay.

The easy part was persuading the player; the 20-time English champions’ biggest challenge is coming to an agreement on a fee with the Toffees.

The Goodison Park team is reportedly asking for £70 million in exchange for the 21-year-old defender, according to The Times.

However, the BBC reports that Everton is seeking £80 million for Branthwaite—the same amount that Manchester United paid to finalise a deal for Harry Maguire five years prior.

Due to budgetary limitations, United will only make a bid of about £50 million to entice the star to leave the Merseysiders.

Even if Everton is facing financial difficulties of their own, they will probably stick to their valuation because they are aware of United’s practice of overpaying for acquisitions.

How much should Manchester United offer to the Toffees in exchange for Branthwaite is the topic at hand.
