Man Utd make decision on Mauricio Pochettino after Thomas Tuchel meeting

The future of Erik ten Hag is still uncertain.
Mauricio Pochettino, a former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham, is “unlikely” to take over as Manchester United’s manager going forward, the Telegraph reports.

The 52-year-old, who left Chelsea as manager at the end of the season by mutual consent, has been strongly linked to a transfer to Old Trafford.

The Argentine has previously been linked to a move to the Red Devils, but the circumstances never worked out for the former Tottenham Hotspur manager to take over at United.

Even if Pochettino is finally free to choose, indications indicate that it is doubtful that he will continue in England’s top division with Manchester United.

After a disappointing season in which United finished eighth in the Premier League, manager Erik ten Hag of the twenty-time English champions is under a lot of pressure, and it’s possible that new part-owners Ineos are trying to bring in a new face.

Many names, from England manager Gareth Southgate to former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, have been floated as possible ten Hag replacements. However, Thomas Tuchel has been most strongly linked and has since ruled out moving to Manchester following a meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The former manager of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund has chosen to take a hiatus rather than return to management immediately.

Since defeating local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final, Erik ten Hag has been on edge and will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future. The club is obviously considering their options, but for now, the Dutchman may have been given some time to make up his mind.

“Two trophies in two seasons and three finals,” declared the former Ajax manager following his team’s victory in the FA Cup final in May. That’s not all that horrible. I’ll go somewhere else to compete for awards if they decide I’m no longer wanted. That’s what I do.

Reports state that this week will see the decision on Erik ten Hag’s destiny.
