As INEOS continues to modernise the Old Trafford team, Manchester United has made it very apparent what their plans are with regard to Ivan Toney.

Since taking ownership, Sir Jim Ratcliffe hasn’t been reluctant to spend big money; two recent acquisitions are Leny Yoro (worth £59 million) and Joshua Zirkzee (worth £36 million).

As the transfer season remains open, the Red Devils are anticipated to keep looking for fresh players. Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder, is one of United’s suspected targets.

However, after Toney, an England international, made an outstanding impression with the Three Lions at Euro 2024, rumours of a transfer for the Brentford player have returned.

With just a year remaining on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford is reportedly willing to sell Toney provided their valuation is satisfied.

Toney, according to Sky Germany, isn’t currently thought to be on United’s transfer radar.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, is reportedly happy with his striker options after bringing Zirkzee into the team earlier this month.

It happens after The Sun revealed that Brentford had cut Toney’s asking price—which was pegged at over £80 million during the January transfer window—by half.

According to the report, Brentford would take a lower offer than £50 million to get the 28-year-old before his contract runs out.

Last season, Arsenal was rumoured to be interested in Toney; however, like their Premier League rivals United, the Gunners are no longer seen to be contenders.

As Toney continues to consider his options, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur are the two teams that are reportedly expressing interest in him.

The lower asking price should make it simpler for one of these teams to sign him, although Tottenham may need to find other sources of funding in order for this to happen.

Any acquisition of Toney is rumoured to depend on Spurs’ ability to find a long-term home for the much-maligned Richarlison.

The Brazil international signed a contract with the North London team in July 2022, although Richarlison is reportedly open to transfers.

In May, there were rumours of relocating to Saudi Arabia, and according to The Daily Mail, Al-Hilal was at the forefront of the pursuit at the time.
