Breaking News:Three changes Enzo Maresca has made at Chelsea since his first training session.
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team will go from Surrey to the United States this week as they ramp up their pre-season training.
Chelsea will hope that the unwelcome disruption generated by Enzo Fernandez’s vulgar and ridiculous film disparaging the ancestry of France’s black footballers was an honest error. They’ll be hoping that his apology, potential fine, and education on unconscious bias will be enough to cool tempers in the locker room and refocus everyone as the club prepares for what promises to be a key season.
A distraction like that was the last thing new manager Enzo Maresca wanted as he sought to calm the commotion caused by the club’s transfer operations and the manner in which managers have been employed and sacked. According to LondonWorld sources, everyone at the club is impressed with how manager Maresca has handled his first few weeks. So, with that in mind, and ahead of what is supposed to be a key two weeks in the United States, here are three changes Maresca has already implemented at the club, according to insiders.
More hands-on training methods.
One of the feel-good things offered by Maresca thus far is his pleasant training methods. Players have been allowed to train with the ball since the first day of preseason, and his possession-based football strategies have been positively appreciated. Even in the club’s social media footage, it’s evident that the Italian manager isn’t simply talking and observing; he’s actively participating in training and can be seen in rondos. According to sources, players have been impressed with his training tactics and even startled by his lively demeanour since taking over for Mauricio Pochettino, whom the players admired.
Playing Style
Christopher Nkunku has already acknowledged that Chelsea will be playing “good football” this year. Despite the fact that the French forward made significant promises during the preseason in the United States, he was one of the players who disappointed significantly last season. In America, he scored three goals and demonstrated enough potential to contend for the Golden Boot. However, injuries limited him to only three goals during the regular season.
When asked about the playing style he is attempting to introduce, the manager stated to Chelsea’s website, “If everyone shares the coach’s vision for the game, we will produce high-quality football this year.” One of the obstacles that former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino encountered was that the spectators did not respond favourably to his approach to the game. Additionally, they believed that Fernandez and Moises Caicedo had an additional level of performance that they could unlock. They are now optimistic that Maresca will be the individual to optimise their potential. Sources at the club’s training site have stated that the style of football being played during training is already impressive, and fans will have their first opportunity to witness it when the team plays against Wrexham on Wednesday.
Player Coaching
According to insiders, Pochettino’s departure resulted from owners and Sporting Directors believing the Argentinean was a touch detached and left a lot of the specifics to his assistant, Jesus Perez. This idea has been rather underlined in the way the club has purposefully released social media information. Chelsea want a manager that teaches the players football so they may learn and realise their full potential, not just coaches a squad. The club posted a video on their social media showing Maresca stopping play to urge athletes not to touch too often considering their desired level of performance. The little clip emphasises that he teaches the team how he wants them to play football, not only guides them.
Everyone constantly pushes to impress and compete for their place when a new manager takes over a team. First two weeks of training at Cobham have seen players go all out to impress, according to sources. Maresca will have difficult days and be judged against some of the best managers who have occupied the seat he is currently in; but, as the first two weeks of training go, he has had a flawless takeoff and has been able to unite a squad including those who were let down by former manager Pochettino.
