Jamie Carragher utilised social media to enquire whether Howard Webb intervened following William Saliba’s dismissal from Arsenal’s match against Bournemouth.

Another matter that Mikel Arteta must address is Saliba’s termination. The Spaniard has already lost his captain, Martin Odegaard, to injury. However, he suggested on Friday that the Norwegian playmaker may be able to face Liverpool next week.

Bukayo Saka was also absent from the match against the Cherries due to an injury sustained during international duty.

The Premier League issued a statement that clarified the reason for Saliba’s yellow card being elevated to a red during the encounter. The statement emphasised that the Arsenal player had missed a clear opportunity to score a goal.

The statement read, “Saliba received a yellow card from the referee for challenging Evanilson.” “The VAR determined that Saliba failed to capitalise on an obvious opportunity to score a goal and advised an on-field review.” After that, the referee elevated the yellow card to a red card.
