“Don’t rush anything” – Sheffield Wednesday administrators delivered a strong request following John McEvoy news

This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal comments from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.
John McEvoy, an American billionaire, has become the latest name associated with a possible acquisition of Sheffield Wednesday.
Hillsborough has had a tumultuous week, as the club filed for administration, officially ending Dejphon Chansiri’s decade-long tenure as owner.
Begbies Traynor’s administrators have been busy clarifying what they require for prospective owners to take over the club, with “four or five” genuine bidders pouring in immediately, three of whom have produced proof of the £50 million required to take over the team.
It is unclear whether one of them is John McEvoy, but the businessman from the United States, who already has limited connections with Sheffield-born musicians through his minority investment in talent agency Various Artists, is thought to be one of the main prospects, according to The Telegraph.
Some Sheffield Wednesday fans are still not over the fact that their old owner has left, and others are struggling not to be swept away by the frequent optimistic news about their club’s future.
Sheffield Wednesday fan commentator applauds officials’ openness.

Patrick McKenna, FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan commentator, is enjoying this era. Administration can be the beginning of the end for football teams, but in Wednesday’s case, it provided a route out of Dejphon Chansiri’s control.
There has undoubtedly been more communication between administration and Owls fans in the last week than there was during the final few months under the Thai billionaire, which is a good feeling.
Regarding the links between McEvoy’s potential purchase of the club, McKenna isn’t getting carried away, as other persons have been linked with the club in the last week.
“With names coming out regarding takeovers, it’s been mentioned that there have been around 60 approaches in total, some obviously joke bids, but administrators have spoken about four or five serious bidders,” he told me.
“It completely demolished the misconception that no one wanted to buy Sheffield Wednesday, and the process of finding a new owner and beginning the sale process is started.
“I have to pay a special mention to the administration for the short period they’ve been operating the club. They’ve been excellent, very professional, and have clearly communicated with the supporters about what’s going on, which has made a huge impact.
“It’s clear that they’re a million miles away from Chansiri, and they’re going to get this process done properly and as quickly a timescale as possible.”
Patience is crucial for Sheffield Wednesday as new ownership approaches.
Ultimately, while this is an exciting time for Wednesday fans, McKenna hopes that the administrators’ due diligence continues until a sale is made.
Sheffield Wednesday doesn’t need the next owner to be as incompetent as Chansiri. That would be a complete disaster, but fortunately, the Owls fan commentator believes the chances of this occurring are small.
“They won’t rush or cut corners,” McKenna remarked. “They have come out and established some timeframes for when they want a preferred bidder to be selected and a transaction to be completed, but they will not waste anyone’s time.
“All we ask for in this process is transparency, and I believe things will proceed quickly compared to other clubs under administration.
“What I will say, however, is don’t rush things. We’re celebrating Chansiri’s dismissal, but we also know there’s a long road ahead. I am confident that the administrators will follow this process and that we will have a new owner sooner rather than later.”
Several groups have been linked to the takeover of Sheffield Wednesday. Along with McEvoy, John Textor and Mike Ashley have been monitoring the situation at Hillsborough for the past week or so.
Finally, it’s easy to become impatient here, with all the linked names but no white smoke, but Wednesday fans who are may need to be reminded of where they’ve just come from.
The club was being ran into the ground under prior ownership, and it may easily suffer the same fate if the administration process is expedited. As a result, Wednesday’s focus is on remaining patient and waiting for the right moment.
