Finally, the player has accepted Man United’s offer; an agreement will be struck today, subject to a medical examination tomorrow; the player’s jersey number has already been confirmed; welcome to Old Trafford.

Trevoh Chalobah, a defender for Chelsea who is considered surplus to needs, is someone that Man United is eager to add to the roster.

Leny Yoro is the first new centre-back that Manchester United has recruited to their roster. The Frenchman was a surprising signing, especially considering how eager Real Madrid was to sign him.

Everyone merely believed that United would next focus on fortifying other positions. That might not be true. During this window, Erik ten Hag still has the option to add a second central defender.

Give Me Sport now reports that United has a “genuine interest” in signing Trevoh Chalobah, a 25-year-old defender.

The idea that United might sign a second center-half during the same window is supported by GMS.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future, Chalobah’s versatility as a right-back may be one of the main reasons the Old Trafford team is focussing on the Englishman.

Give Me Sport reports that Chelsea wants to pay £25 million to allow Chalobah to depart permanently, but because the Stamford Bridge team has already stated their intentions, I think that amount may be negotiated down.

Chelsea’s preseason tour has begun, and Chalobah has been left at home. They seem committed to taking advantage of the popular favourite throughout this time. United might try to take advantage of that.

This would fortify a backline that will undoubtedly require further support this summer. Chalobah has a point to make, is youthful, and is ravenous. He is an underappreciated defender who is capable of entering and exiting the starting lineup as needed.
