According to reports, Manchester United plans to spend more money this summer by adding a highly regarded young midfield player.

After Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS company took over football operations in February, United was always going to have a busy window, and they have already signed attacker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and defender Leny Yoro from Lille.

Along with these high-profile players, the Old Trafford team has also been connected to Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain and midfielder Fabian Ruiz of Spain.

However, one of INEOS’s tactics will put a renewed emphasis on finding young talent, and United is expected to make a move for highly-regarded defensive midfielder Sekou Koné.

The 18-year-old, who plays for Guidars FC in Mali, made an impression for his country during the Under-17 World Cup towards the end of last year.

Frankfurter Rundschau, a German publication, reports that United is one of several Premier League teams interested in the midfield player.

According to the article, Koné is also being pursued by Crystal Palace and Wolves. A scouting film on YouTube has dubbed Koné a “hidden gem,” citing his outstanding performances for Mali at the U-17 World Cup.

Frankfurter Runschau describes Koné as having “good tackling, excellent anticipation, a lot of pace and good passing.” It is said that he would be available for between €1.5 million and €2 million.

FourFourTwo believes that Koné is a promising young player, and this is the perfect type of transfer that complements United’s two-tier approach. This is a low-risk move for the Red Devils, regardless of whether he is talented enough for the first squad in the future because to the affordable asking price.
