Former Real Madrid star Mohamed Salah was sold, and – How Darwin Nunez can be unlocked by Liverpool
Darwin Nunez has not yet fully realised his potential while playing for Liverpool.
Darwin Nunez has achieved a total of ten or more goals in all competitions during both of his seasons with Liverpool. However, it is expected that there will be many more impressive performances from the player who was acquired for a hefty sum of £85 million. The new Reds boss, Arne Slot, will aim to possess the solution to unleash the potential of the Uruguayan player. Although the player scored at a decent rate under Jurgen Klopp, he often demonstrated inefficiency in converting his opportunities.
Nunez scored a total of 34 goals in his last season at Benfica and has a strong scoring record in international matches. At the age of 25, and with a significant cost to validate, it is now the moment for the striker to assume the role of the primary figure in Liverpool’s offensive strategy.
Attaining the goal is nearly unattainable when considering the presence of superstar forward Mohamed Salah. Over the past seven seasons, the Egyptian player has been the main source of danger for Liverpool. Despite playing in a wide position, he excels more as a lethal goal scorer rather than a selfless provider.
Salah’s exceptional ability to score goals has undoubtedly been advantageous for Liverpool. However, if one of Slot’s primary responsibilities is to initiate long-term planning and enhance the potential of persons who could be available to him for many years, it might be appropriate for the Reds to assist a transition in leadership.
Parting ways with Salah would be distressing for Liverpool supporters, but severing the relationship this summer and recovering a substantial quantity of money in return would be less difficult than losing the 32-year-old without any compensation when his contract ends next June.
Wataru Endo, a prominent player for the Reds, has indicated that Salah may soon depart. In an interview with ABEMA Sports Time earlier this month, Endo stated that Liverpool is actively seeking a replacement for Salah, making it a priority for the team to reinforce this position.
With a large portion of Nunez’s potential yet to be unleashed, Salah’s possible exit should be followed up by the signing of a considerably younger wide man with a proven track record of occupying defenders and creating chances.
Former Real Madrid star Takefusa Kubo could be the man for the job. According to Sponichi Annex, Liverpool are chasing the 23-year-old with a view to making him the most expensive Japanese player in history.
