Galatasaray accuse Jose Mourinho of racism and plan to ‘initiate criminal proceedings’ against Fenerbahce boss
After Fenerbahce and Galatasaray played to a scoreless draw on Monday night, Galatasaray has accused Jose Mourinho of being racist towards his coaching staff.
At RAMS Park, the two Istanbul giants faced off against each other, but the game ended in a scoreless draw. The real drama occurred after the game, when the hosts issued a statement against Mourinho.
In it, they made the accusation that the Portuguese coach had made a statement that was racist. They stated that “Since the beginning of his managerial duties in Turkey, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has persistently issued derogatory statements directed towards the Turkish people.”
His discourse has progressed to the point where it is now unquestionably inhumane, expanding beyond the realm of merely immoral comments.
“We hereby formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings concerning the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho, and we shall accordingly submit official complaints to both UEFA and FIFA,” the statement reads.
“Furthermore, we shall diligently observe the stance adopted by Fenerbahçe — an institution professing to uphold ‘exemplary moral values’— in response to the reprehensible conduct exhibited by their manager.”
What particular comment made by Mourinho is being referred to by the statement is not specified.
Mourinho had previously suggested that the players on the away bench were “jumping like monkeys,” and he had also increased his criticism of the Turkish officials.
As of right now, Fenerbache has issued a statement of their own, in which they assert that his remarks were “completely taken out of context and deliberately distorted.”
It was written as follows: “As every reasonable person can see and understand, these statements used by Jose Mourinho to describe the excessive reaction of the technical staff of the opposing team to the decisions made by the referees during the match can in no way be associated with racism.”
The attempt to portray this statement as racist is an approach that is completely malicious.
“We would like to inform the public that we will use our legal rights regarding this pathetic slander that was made in order to take the competition off the pitch, change the agenda and manipulate it.”
The matchup between the two teams at the top of the table was expected to be a fierce one. Slavko Vincic, a foreign referee, was requested for the very first time in the history of the Turkish Super Lig. Additionally, there were 4,500 police officers present at the match.
Once the game was over, Mourinho made the following statement: “I have to thank the referee.” Following the significant dive that occurred in the first minute, as well as their bench jumping like monkeys on top of the child, if the referee were Turkish, you would receive a yellow card after one minute, and after five minutes, I would be required to change him.
He continued by saying, “After the game, I went to the referee’s dressing room, and of course, the fourth official, a Turkish referee, was there.” When I turned to the fourth official, I told him, “If you were a referee, this match would be a disaster.” I also told him that I was grateful for his presence and that he had come to watch a significant match.
Although the away team, Fenerbahce, was the superior team, they were only able to get three shots on goal during the match. The match was largely a dull affair.
A flare was thrown from the away end into Galatasaray seating during the second half of the game, which caused the game to be halted. There were some minor incidents that occurred during the game, such as Mourinho and Okan Buruk being booked.
However, things only became more heated after the match, even before Mourinho’s statement, which Gala have expressed their displeasure with.
First, Buruk shared his account of the events that transpired, saying, “It was the speech of the crying one.” He is often seen crying in public. Once more, he shed tears in this location for a considerable amount of time. Inside, he shed tears. The referee’s room was where he shed tears. It is okay for him to keep crying.
As the referee entered the room, Mourinho entered. It is extremely inappropriate for him to make such a derogatory statement to the Turkish referee. The way he described it, if they were the ones in charge of management, would be like this.
This is a very serious error. It’s hard for me to believe that he is humiliating the Turkish referees to such an extreme degree; I strongly condemn it.
The coach of the Turkish team then went after the Slovenian player Vincic, saying, “I went and told him after the match that he performed worse than the Turkish referees who were there.” I couldn’t believe it when I saw that his hands and feet were shaking while the match was going on.
It should come as no surprise that Mourinho harboured the opposite opinion, praising the individual who presided over the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the previous season.
Providing support for Mourinho was Acun Ilicali, the vice-president of his club, who stated to a media pool that Mourinho had communicated with the referees during the match. It is not true that he threatened the referee by saying, “You can never referee a match here again.” He did not say this to the referee.
In the midst of the intense competition, Coach Okan must have made his statement. I recognise that as well due to the fact that they played a match that was not very successful. Some statements, such as “Mourinho is crying” and “the referee was bad,” give the impression that they are part of a media operation.
Vincic was the first foreign referee to officiate a match in the Turkish Super Lig in the 56 years that had passed, and he seemed to have a good handle on the game.
In point of fact, it has been so successful that Trabzonspor, Trabzonspor’s rivals, have issued a statement stating that they want the Slovenian referee to be “experienced and fair” when he watches their games against the two Istanbul teams.
However, this did not prevent Mourinho from looking for additional ways to undermine the league, as he once again attacked the hosts when he was asked if there was still a title fight.
“Under typical circumstances, I would contend that this league is still in existence,” he indicated.
What would you consider to be the typical circumstances? If referees in Turkey take a look at today’s performance and contemplate, “I want to be a top-level referee like today,” then the team that performs better will emerge victorious at the conclusion of the season and take home the championship.
In the event that the circus that we have witnessed since the beginning of the year continues, then the conclusion of the story will be decided differently.
After coming here for the first time to play a match today, I was able to get a sense of how they conducted themselves in every way. It is a very good organisation, although it is not clean, but it is the best organisation.
