Liverpool’s incredible start to the new season under Arne Slot has put them in a fantastic position to win the Premier League title.

The team is now five points ahead of champions Manchester City at the top of the league after the Dutchman won nine of his first 11 games as manager.

Position Team Played Won Drawn Lost For Against Diff Points
1 Liverpool 11 9 1 1 21 6 15 28
2 Manchester City 11 7 2 2 22 13 9 23
3 Chelsea 11 5 4 2 21 13 8 19
4 Arsenal 11 5 4 2 18 12 6 19

There have been rumours of a historic title win in Slot’s first season at the club because he had the best start of any manager in Premier League history.

In order to essentially guarantee the Premier League title, Jamie Carragher has urged the Liverpool manager to make a bid for a player who turned them down in the summer.

Martin Zubimendi should be signed by Liverpool in January, according to Jamie Carragher.

Despite initially having his head turned, Martin Zubimendi chose to stay at Real Sociedad during the summer transfer window after turning down a move to Anfield.

In response, the Reds decided to use Ryan Gravenberch as a number six, which has shown to be a brilliant option thus far. However, it might be argued that they still require a midfield addition.

Carragher has outlined why Liverpool must make a bid for Zubimendi in the middle of the season as they continue to monitor him ahead of the January transfer window.

Carragher stated on Stick to Football, “I would be doing that if I were Liverpool.”

“I was considering this: if you were Arne Slot, and let’s say a mediocre Premier League manager spends two or three years attempting to win the league at a big team. Arteta has spent four or five years there. You’re attempting to construct something.

“He may never again be in this position, five points ahead of City and nine ahead of Arsenal.”

Liverpool is advised to make a midseason wager.
Liverpool has frequently adopted a methodical approach in the transfer market throughout the years.

To win the title, Carragher thinks they must take advantage of their outstanding standing in the Premier League standings and close a deal for Zubimendi.

We know Liverpool doesn’t do foolish things in the transfer market, but if there is something there at the moment, there’s still a long way to go, he added. Take action.

“Zubimendi is the guy he wanted; Gravenberch, who has been excellent, was ultimately placed there, but if he is the man you want, go ahead and do it; you might never find yourself in this situation.

“City is City, and they are five points ahead of you at Christmas, even though you have been here for three years. Make it matter, please.

Although they couldn’t persuade the player, Liverpool was prepared to activate the Spaniard’s £51 million release clause in August.

They might be persuaded to give it another go in January, though it’s unclear if Zubimendi has changed his mind so quickly.
