According to Football Transfers, Arsenal and Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino have apparently come to a “agreement” regarding a summer transfer.

According to reports, the Gunners intend to bolster their engine room during current transfer window after completing the Riccardo Calafiori trade. Although they were associated with many names, the Spaniard has recently been the main target.

After initiating discussions with the player’s representation, the North London club reportedly came to a “agreement” regarding the midfielder’s personal terms. This information was reported by Football Transfers.

According to the source, Arsenal has not yet made an official proposal to Real Sociedad, but they may choose to do so in the next few days.

As Merino’s current contract is about to expire, it seems doubtful that he will sign an extension with La Real. As a result, Mikel Arteta’s team may be able to get him this summer at a reduced price, with the Basque club apparently seeking to pay about £25 million.

Merino to Arsenal
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly interested in recruiting him as well, but Arsenal appears to be in a better position in this competition after reaching a personal terms agreement with him.

The 28-year-old can play weaving passes between the lines and is a technically good player. He can also receive passes under duress and put in a tonne of effort even when he is not in possession.

At 6 feet 2 inches tall, the Spaniard is powerful, quick, and skilled in the air. He also has the ability to provide a few crucial goals. He therefore has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.

He has Premier League experience, having played for Newcastle United in the past. He has also demonstrated his abilities in a premier league such as La Liga, so should the North London team decide to acquire him, he would be a great addition.

If he does leave Real Sociedad during this transfer window, it will be intriguing to see if the Gunners are able to sign him in the end.

It will be interesting to see if Arteta can finally lead Arsenal to victory in the Premier League the following season, since he has expressed his desperation to win the league after missing out on it in back-to-back seasons.
