According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain turned down Manchester United’s initial offer for Manuel Ugarte, with the French champions demanding a payment of approximately £51 million.
As Casemiro is anticipated to depart Old Trafford this summer, United is keen to get a new holding midfield player, which is why the Uruguayan international caught their attention this week.

In the summer of last year, Ugarte rejected a transfer to Chelsea in favour of joining PSG for a little over £50 million.

Under Luis Enrique, he began the 2023–24 season as a regular, but in the latter part of the season, he was dropped from the starting lineup.

United is the first team to make an approach for the midfield player, and PSG is reportedly open to offers.

The Daily Telegraph reports that sources close to the French champions say United’s initial offer was rejected because it was “much below” their assessment.

Even if PSG is keen to recover the £51 million they paid Sporting Lisbon for his services last year, United maintains that only “exploratory talks” have taken place as of yet.

Whether United agrees to such requests is still up in the air. Regardless, Ugarte is anticipated to go from Parc de Princes this summer.

This summer, United is reportedly planning to spend a relatively small £35 million on transfers, with the goal of raising additional money through player sales.

Jarrad Branthwaite, a defender for Everton, had an initial bid turned down by the club. The Merseyside team quickly turned down the offer, which was estimated to be worth £35 million plus a further £8 million. Everton values its valuable asset at £70 million.

According to reports, Branthwaite and his club have already reached a personal agreement to transfer to Old Trafford, but United hasn’t been able to convince them to lower their asking price.

United is willing to end negotiations if Everton is unwilling to compromise, and they are not in a haste to make a better offer for the 21-year-old.
