How Manchester United could line up next season with three new signings
Manchester United intends to be proactive during the upcoming summer transfer window in light of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s appointment.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe aspires to restore United to its former greatness. He has previously recruited Omar Berrada from Manchester City, intends to hire Dan Ashworth as the club’s first-ever sporting director, and aspires to construct a new stadium.
On the field, he aspires to restore Manchester United to their previous successes, both in local competitions and in European competitions.
In order for either of those aspirations to be achieved, he will need to make strategic and prudent investments in the team, as he has previously acknowledged.
United formulated plans for the upcoming summer transfer window as early as September, identifying the specific areas they aim to strengthen.
They have recognized the need for new players in the right-back position, centre-back position, central midfield, and attack.
Undoubtedly, United has invested substantial sums of money in recent years, although they have frequently demonstrated a lack of prudence in how they allocate these funds. Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, they have seen a greater number of failures than successes in the transfer window.
Ratcliffe has already indicated his preferred approach to United’s recruitment, indicating that they are likely to focus on uncovering undiscovered talents and players with potential for future financial gain.
The Reds have made significant investments in experienced players in recent years, like Raphael Varane and Casemiro, and both players are at risk of departing from M16 this upcoming summer.
Manchester City is facing a scheduling issue after their FA Cup and Premier League matches were rescheduled.
Varane’s contract has expired and there is a possibility that Casemiro may be sold due to his disappointing performance in his second season with the club. If both of them leave, they are crucial individuals who will require replacement.
United does not require the acquisition of a first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season.
Last summer, they acquired Andre Onana as a replacement for David de Gea. Throughout the campaign, Onana has shown improvement, validating Erik ten Hag’s belief that he is the perfect option to take over from the Spanish goalkeeper.
Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen has caught the attention of Manchester United as they seek to enhance their options at right-back, a position that has been in need of new talent for a while.
If Diogo Dalot continues to perform well for the rest of this season, he may continue to be the first choice. He has consistently performed at a high level in recent months.
A potential Manchester United starting lineup presented in a visual format. The playing field is all black, with white lines marking the boundaries and divisions.
The initial lineup consists of the following eleven players:
Goalkeeper: Andre Onana
Right back: Jeremie Frimpong Center back: Jarrad Branthwaite Center back: Lisandro Martinez
LB: Luke Shaw CM: Kobbie Mainoo CM: João Gomes CM: Bruno Fernandes
Alejandro Garnacho is the RW (Right Winger).
Subject: Rasmus Hojlund
Player: Marcus Rashford
If Varane leaves, it will be necessary to find a suitable long-term replacement as a center-back partner for Lisandro Martinez.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is under surveillance and meets Ratcliffe’s requirements, although he is unlikely to be available at a low cost. Although he is naturally left-footed, he possesses the same level of skill and ability with his right foot, allowing him to effectively play in the right-sided centre-back position.
If Luke Shaw can avoid injuries, he possesses the necessary skill to maintain his position as Manchester United’s primary left-back. Nevertheless, it would not be unexpected to witness their contemplation of procuring an alternative choice.
Despite Casemiro’s impressive performance last season, he is not a viable option for the long term. United requires a top-tier defensive midfielder to partner with Kobbie Mainoo, enabling him to showcase his skills without the concern of leaving his team vulnerable in the midfield area.
