I will play for Man united on one condition – Man United willing to pay €100m for Sensational sporting CP striker with 50 goals and assists after surprise transfer decision
Man United’s willingness to pay €100 million for a sensational sporting CP striker with 50 goals and assists following a surprise transfer decision is the only requirement I have for playing for Man United.
United scouts reportedly attended Sporting’s victory over Benfica in the Taca de Portugal last Thursday, according to a report from the Mirror.
Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres scored his 31st goal of the season in that match, and while several players may have been the center of attention for United, Gyokeres may have been able to address a problem that has dogged Erik Ten Hag during his time at Old Trafford.
The United manager expressed the team’s desire to sign a striker at the beginning of the year, but United’s options were limited by having to adhere to financial regulations before more money could be set aside for the summer transfer window.
It’s no secret that Ten Hag desired a striker, and he acknowledged that his plans had to alter.
Due to Martial’s injury, we don’t really have a backup. However, it was not feasible as we had to comply with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. There are a few drawbacks to FFP. Selling players—especially good players—is necessary to create room for FFP, but I don’t think that’s how a team is built.
Ten Hag was left without any viable options aside from the 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund, who was the only recognized center-forward in the squad. Gyokeres might start for United in the lineup shown below.
Senior striker Gyokares has experienced an incredible rise since joining Coventry City to train under former United forward Mark Robins. His 33 goals from the previous campaign propelled the Sky Blues to the brink of the Premier League through a penalty shootout.
Gyokeres was able to seal a £20.5 million transfer to Sporting as a result, and the 25-year-old has thrived at the massive Portuguese team, increasing his goal total to 32 goals this past weekend.
Arsenal and Chelsea have previously expressed interest in signing the Sweden international, but Sporting is predicted to wait for his €100 million (£85.5 million) release clause.
Even though Gyokeres would probably have to replace Hojlund as United’s first-choice striker if he arrived for that kind of money, it would allay worries about Hojlund’s workload.
Hojlund should have gained experience from and played alongside a more experienced striker for United this season, but Anthony Martial’s injury problems derailed that strategy.
The fact that the Danish international overcame his early setbacks to score seven goals in his past six league games speaks more to Hojlund’s skill than to smart squad management.
By bringing in Gyokeres, United would be able to rely on a striker with more experience, and Hojlund would be able to assist in leading the team up the Premier League table.
Gyokeres would also address a deficiency that was brought to light by Wout Weghorst’s loan move from the previous season by adding some much-needed depth up front.
Complete assault
Ten Hag would be able to combine Gyokeres’ physical attributes and height with Hojlund’s innate poaching instincts. Hojlund was also a member of a front two at Atalanta, but the Swede currently plays as a lone striker for Sporting after frequently playing in a two during his time with Coventry.
It might not be the most suitable for United’s existing workforce. Bruno Fernandes’s positional requirement as a number 10 and Marcus Rashford’s potency from the left flank make it unlikely that a 4-4-2 or diamond formation will be utilized frequently. In other cases, though, it might give United the advantage.
There would be times when United would benefit from having a functional front two and moving Fernandes out wide, whether they were playing against a more defensive team in a low block or chasing a late goal.
Several significant goals could be scored during a season due to Gyokeres and Hojlund’s increased attacking intent and various threats to opposing defenses.
