Ian Wright chastised fellow pundit Jamie Carragher for allegedly “disrespecting” Casemiro following Manchester United’s crushing 4-0 loss to Claremont.

The reign of Erik ten Hag as United’s manager came to an end on Monday night as Michael Olise’s brace, along with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell, helped Palace secure an incredible victory.

The unexpected outcome will only heighten concerns about Ten Hag’s future as Crystal Palace achieves a league double over Manchester United for the first time ever.

Carragher called United’s performance on Monday Night Football “embarrassing” and specifically criticized Casemiro, saying it was obvious the player was no longer capable of playing at the highest level.

“As an accomplished player, Casemiro ought to be aware tonight that he should only have three more games at the highest level—the next two Premier League games and the FA Cup Final—after which he ought to be considering his options and considering moving to the MLS or Saudi Arabia,” the Sky Sports analyst said.

“This has to stop,” his agent and the group of people surrounding him need to tell him. I’m not kidding.

“We are witnessing one of the greatest players of our era, performing in one of the greatest midfields that has ruled Europe. He was able to hold [Luka] Modric to one side and [Toni] Kroos to the other.”

It might easily face the beloved Barcelona midfield of [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi, and [Sergio] Busquets. He has thus been absolutely fantastic.

“I am not even close to what that man has accomplished—winning Champions Leagues while representing Real Madrid and Brazil.”

However, I always recall a saying from my time as a football player when I retired: “Leave the football, before the football leaves you.”

He is no longer a football player at this elite level. At this point in his football career, he should give up and move on.
