“If he choose Man United over Man City, I’ll resign as a football coach…He’s the player we can’t afford to see him playing for them, they may become undefeatable with him”: Pep Guardiola angered by World-class player’s decision to join Man United as Man City increases bid to convince him from Man United transfer

Pep Guardiola is reportedly interested in a particular Manchester United target.
Over the years, both Manchester clubs have made repeated moves for the same player.

At the time, Manchester United was praised for winning the race to recruit players like Harry Maguire, Alexis Sanchez, Fred, and Cristiano Ronaldo, all of whom were rumoured to be targets for Manchester City. However, in all of these cases, the blue side of the city came out on top.

At Old Trafford, Ronaldo, Sanchez, and Fred all had disappointing runs, but Maguire’s tenure has been nothing short of terrible.

Manchester City, on the other hand, has a reputation for doing well in business, and after winning four straight Premier League titles, they would love to reward Pep Guardiola with his dream additions given his standing at the Etihad Stadium.

The reason Pep Guardiola thinks Manchester United is a target Jarrad Branthwaite
Even though the Red Devils are no longer the dominant team they once were, they are still regarded as maybe the largest team in England football.

Because of this, it appears that certain players are still drawn to the chance to play for one of the most prominent teams in football just by virtue of their status.

Nevertheless, with their cross-town rivals being the best in English football, United has every right to be concerned if City enters the picture in their search for a player.

The Sun reports that even if Manchester United is able to finalise the signing of Matthijs de Ligt, manager Pep Guardiola of Manchester City is reportedly mulling a move for Jarrad Branthwaite, a player Erik ten Hag would want to see Manchester United sign in the summer.

Guardiola is said to be “impressed” by Branthwaite’s defensive prowess and how well he plays out of the back.

According to the report, the 22-year-old is currently valued at £80 million, which is higher than the claim made in June. Everton views him internally as a defender who should command fees comparable to those of players like Josko Gvardiol, who signed with Manchester City for £77.6 million, Harry Maguire, who is valued at £80 million (BBC Sport), and Wesley Fofana, who Chelsea paid £75 million (Sky Sports) for in 2022.

Jarrad Branthwaite is not always necessary for Manchester City.
As good a centre-back as Branthwaite is, it is surprising that Pep Guardiola is interested in signing him unless Manchester City plans to move one of their defenders.

If the goal at Etihad Stadium was to let go of a centre-back with an injury history like John Stones, then there would be a compelling case to be made for the Englishman as a possible signing.

It doesn’t appear necessary to add the young player to their roster because Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, and Josko Gvardiol aren’t connected to any summer departures.

Particularly when the Sky Blues are being asked to shell out an incredible £80 million to fix a squad member that isn’t even close to a priority.
