If Only i Could Turn Back the Clock: Arsenal legend admits that he left the club “for a woman” and that he continues to feel guilt about his decision.
The legendary Arsenal player Emmanuel Petit has said that he left the club “for a woman,” and he continues to feel sorrow for the choice he made twenty-four years later.
Between the years 1997 and 2000, Petit was a part of Arsenal’s three great seasons, during which the Gunners won the Premier League championship and the FA Cup trophy in 1998 under his leadership.
The Frenchman, who is now 54 years old, wishes he had remained in north London for a longer period of time and had the ability to rewind time in order to prevent himself from joining Barcelona in the year 2000.
Petit responded to the question of why he made the decision to quit Arsenal and join Barcelona by saying, “[It was] for a woman.” in response to the question, he stated that his love life off the pitch had an influence on his decision.
Barcelona and Real Madrid, two of the most successful clubs in the world, have long been two of my favourite teams. On the other hand, I should have remained with Arsenal without fault.
When you think about it, there are occasions when the grass is not greener someplace else. The best course of action is to remain in the same location when you are experiencing love and happiness and when you are successful.
Why would you choose to leave? Without a doubt, [a severe regret]. Should I had the ability to go back in time, I would most likely choose a different course of action.
The former defensive midfielder Petit, who is now employed as a football commentator, was only with Barcelona for a single season before he moved back to the Premier League and joined Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Petit, who retired from playing in 2004, recently disclosed that he would be thrilled if Arsenal were to acquire the services of Moises Caicedo, a midfielder who currently plays for Chelsea.
In an interview with Instant Casino, he stated, “If I could pick one Chelsea player to put into the Arsenal team, actually, that would be Moises Caicedo, without a doubt.” To be honest, I would probably go with Cole Palmer as well, but I’m going to go with Caicedo.
Petit would also like to see Arsenal take a chance on Paul Pogba, who is getting ready to make his long-awaited comeback from a doping ban following the expiration of his contract with Juventus.
As an additional point of clarification, Petit stated, “I did mention that Paul Pogba would be a good option for Arsenal, but it’s a gamble.”
It is his intention to demonstrate that he is not yet completed. When he was away from the pitch, the events that transpired over the course of the previous two to three seasons were a nightmare.
