Journalist releases new Sheffield Wednesday takeover update, claiming ‘double figures’.

Over 10 companies have expressed interest in purchasing Sheffield Wednesday as the administrators seek a new owner for the struggling Championship side.

After years of problems under Dejphon Chansiri, many Wednesday fans were relieved when the club went into administration earlier this month, as it meant the Thai businessman’s tenure at Hillsborough was over, even if it almost certainly relegated Henrik Pedersen’s side due to the 12-point deduction.

However, in the grand scheme of things, the Owls’ primary priority is to find a new owner, which they hope will happen quickly within the next several months.

Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover comes as possible buyers surface.

The next phase is for purchasers to express their interest to the administrators, and Wednesday is an obvious choice given the club’s stature.

In a recent development, writer Rob Staton disclosed that over 10 prospective bidders have made contact about purchasing the Yorkshire club.

“Contrary to what has been claimed elsewhere, the administrators at Sheffield Wednesday have spoken with numerous interested parties. I believe it’s in double figures.”

While no specific names were revealed in the most recent update, Botafogo owner John Textor and fellow US billionaire John McEvoy are believed to be interested in purchasing Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday can only profit from the huge interest in purchasing the club.

Even while everyone at Wednesday is relieved to have gotten rid of Chansiri, the fact that the club is on the market for a lesser price than it is worth could draw a variety of interested parties.

So it’s good for the club that there is so much genuine interest, and it will be up to the administrators to select which parties are suitable candidates to raise finances and move the club forward.

Again, this will not happen overnight, but it is quite promising that discussions have already begun, and it does provide hope for Wednesday about how they may move forward in the long run.

In the short term, fans continue to contribute by purchasing tickets and items that will assist the club run on a daily basis.

They will be proud of how the club has performed in such challenging conditions, and Pedersen’s side will be bolstered by another large away crowd when they face West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
