Ruben Amorim is getting ready to make a shocking double transfer announcement this summer, and Manchester United may be on the verge of re-signing a former star player.

United had a much more quiet transfer window during the winter season, in contrast to the busy summer transfer window that saw players such as Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Manuel Ugarte join the club.

Despite the fact that Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were brought to Old Trafford, the club made the decision to concentrate on player departures with the intention of concentrating on the upcoming summer transfer window in 2025.

In addition, a new report has disclosed the first two players that the new United manager may intend to target during the summer transfer window. One of these players is a former star player for United of Manchester.

After a relatively quiet winter transfer window this year, many fans of Manchester United have speculated that the club may have been unable to make any significant signings due to the stringent profit and sustainability rules that are in place in the Premier League.

Although the anticipated sales of players such as Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, or Antony in the summer would be beneficial in addressing this issue, it appears that Amorim will also be considering the possibility of signing players whose contracts are set to expire in the summer.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Manchester United may be considering making a surprise move to acquire both Joshua David and Angel Gomes, who are both set to expire their contracts in the summer. This would be done in order to sign both players.

Following his graduation from the United youth program, Gomes was a member of the senior squad for a period of three years before he made the move to the French team in June of 2020, when his contract was set to expire.

According to reports, United made an effort to persuade the midfielder to sign a contract extension; however, he ultimately decided to pursue a new challenge in another country.

In addition, United may be tempted to pursue the 24-year-old player once more after he has made a number of impressive appearances for Lille and England’s senior squad since being called up by interim manager Lee Carsley in November.

On multiple occasions, Gomes has expressed his desire to return to Old Trafford, and it would appear that he would be willing to consider making the move.

“There’ll always be that sentimental soft spot, so of course it’d be difficult to say no,” he said in an interview with The Times in October.

“Despite the fact that it would be incredible if I were to achieve happiness in another country, I am aware that playing in the Premier League is not the all-encompassing goal.

While this is going on, United’s strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee continue to fall short of expectations, and it is possible that their teammate David, who is anticipated to be pursued by a number of the most prestigious clubs in Europe this summer, could be the ideal solution to the ongoing problem that they are having up front.

In the same way that Gomes’s contract with Lille is about to expire this summer, David’s contract with Lille is also about to expire, and the Canadian international has hinted that he will look to join a new club once he becomes a free agent.

At the conclusion of the season, I will without a doubt be free. It was in an interview with a French publication called Onze Mondial that he admitted, “And as for my future, I hope to grow, to become a better player, and to play for the biggest clubs in the world, if I so choose.”
