Barcelona has decided to withdraw from the competition for the striker, and Manchester United is only one of several major European clubs that are interested in acquiring Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP who is now playing for Sporting.

As a result of Barcelona’s admission that the striker for Sporting CP, Viktor Gyokeres, is “not a priority,” Manchester United’s ambitions of acquiring his services have been given a significant boost.

A remarkable second season for Gyokeres, who is 26 years old, with the Portuguese champions is currently underway. With a remarkable run of 66 goals in 68 appearances since signing from Coventry City in 2023, he has garnered the interest of some of the most prestigious teams in Europe. Additionally, thanks to Ruben Amorim, he was able to secure the title of Primeira Liga champion during the previous season.

His hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this month only served to amplify the hype that was already around him. According to reports, Barcelona, Real Madrid, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and United are all interested in signing him. As a result of United’s recent appointment of Amorim as their new manager, rumours regarding Gyokeres’ probable transfer to Old Trafford has gained traction. Amorim is considered to be the coach who was responsible for the Swede’s remarkable turnaround in his career.

United received an additional boost as a result of the confirmation that Barcelona’s sports director Deco has now declared that the Catalan club is not interested in signing him. “He is a good player, and he has been scoring goals for a long time already in Portugal,” Deco said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

We are familiar with him, just like other people, but he is not now our top focus. The reason we are not searching for a No. 9 to replace Robert [Lewandowski] is because we want him to continue to be content, continue to score goals, and at the very least continue to play for another season.

We’ve been successful, and he’s delighted to be at this place. It is not appropriate for us to discuss any player at this time.

Even though Gyokeres is rumoured to have a release clause worth 83 million pounds, United may be able to acquire him for a fee of only 63 million pounds. Additionally, United may be able to provide Sporting Joshua Zirkzee as part of the process. In spite of this, any deal would have to take place until the summer of the next year rather than during the January transfer window. This is because Amorim has pledged not to raid his old team until at least the conclusion of the current season.

According to A Bola, Amorim was quoted as saying, “I will not sign any Sporting player at Man United in January… then, what happens in the summer I don’t know.” Players in sports are some of the best players. Let us wait and see what transpires.

Throughout the course of this season, Gyokeres has scored 23 goals across all competitions, demonstrating that he is continuing his outstanding form. The previous experience he had in English football was gained while he was playing for Brighton, Swansea City on loan for a short period of time, and Coventry for two and a half seasons.
