Matthijs de Ligt’s true feelings on Man Utd’s decision to sack Erik ten Hag and replace him with Ruben Amorim

The defender for Manchester United, Matthijs de Ligt, has opened out about his genuine views regarding the dismissal of former manager Erik ten Hag and his successor, Ruben Amorim.

This summer, De Ligt paid £38 million to join United from Bayern Munich in an attempt to get back together with Ten Hag, his teammate at Ajax.

But only two months after the defender arrived at Old Trafford, his previous manager was fired from his position as United manager, and Amorim, a former Sporting manager, took over.

De Ligt has now, for the first time, discussed Ten Hag’s exit and shared his opinions about the new United manager.

United confirmed their separation from Ten Hag in an official club statement on October 28. Four days later, they announced that Amorim would be replacing him.

“He brought me to Manchester, the goal was to achieve success together with Erik,” De Light remarked in an interview with the Dutch publication De Telegraaf regarding Ten Hag.

“He hasn’t had much luck. Although we performed admirably in several games, we wasted our opportunities. That it must end this way is unfortunate.

“A dismissal can always be quite hard,” the Dutchman added, adding that he had spoken to Ten Hag since his dismissal. We talked about a few topics.

De Ligt also shared his opinions about the hiring of Amorim, the new manager who joined the team this week.

He performed admirably at Sporting; perhaps he can help us advance as well. Amorim will not be my final coach, nor is he my first.

Ten Hag wasn’t the only reason I moved to Manchester United. I believe it remains one of the largest clubs in the world. All I need to do is play well and do my own thing.

“I’m in great shape now, and everything is going smoothly. I hope I can keep doing that.
