Even though Man Utd have acquired Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille, they still wish to add another centre back to strengthen their defensive. Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Bayern Munich, is someone they have been attempting to sign, but the talks are moving slowly.

The 24-year-old has already committed to a five-year contract with the Red Devils, which would pay him approximately £170,000 per week, according to a report we covered. If the Dutchman stays at Old Trafford for the duration of his contract, this comes to about £44.2 million.

Man Utd has put up an initial €35 million bid for the former Juventus centre defender, but Bayern is holding out for €50 million, according to German publication BILD. However, it appears that the Red Devils are ready to take a long-term approach after signing Yoro.

Dan Ashworth and company have come to the realisation that they are ahead in this negotiation since Bayern is unable to complete a deal for Jonathan Tah if De Ligt is not sold. We wrote about how we believe Man Utd is attempting to coerce the German powerhouses by pursuing the Bayer Leverkusen defence.

De Ligt makes a significant contribution. Even at the young age of 24, he has a plethora of experience already. At the age of 19, he took on the role of captain for Ajax, and he has since gone on to play for some of the top teams in Germany and Italy.

The player is probably not going to have any trouble adjusting to the coach’s style because they have already played for Erik ten Hag.

He will also receive support from someone who believes in him and wants to see him succeed as one of the league’s top centre backs.

De Ligt’s career has not reached the heights previously anticipated, despite having a wealth of experience, but it is still early. The Dutchman can get back on track at Old Trafford since he is still far from reaching his prime.

De Ligt is probably going to start alongside Lisandro Martinez at Manchester United. The Red Devils should sell him for a reasonable price, and let’s hope they can convince Bayern to do so.
