Erik Ten Hag is eager and optimistic about finalising a contract with a “world-class” player who is significantly more experienced than Kylian Mbappe, at a weekly salary of £250,000. According to a top writer, Ten Hag desires to maintain a limited number of experienced players in his team in order to facilitate the development of the younger players.

Manchester United have been actively pursuing the acquisition of Manuel Ugarte for a considerable period of time. However, discussions over the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder have recently stalled.

The European powerhouses demanded a sum of £59m in order to terminate the contract of the Uruguayan player, a fee that the Red Devils were unwilling to pay.

Since then, there has been little progress in this area, with Man Utd appearing to prioritise their efforts on other goals. Ugarte remains a highly desired player for the Red Devils, but the English club is determined not to be outmanoeuvred by PSG throughout the negotiation process.

Nevertheless, there are imminent changes on the horizon. According to a report from Caught Offside, PSG is nearing the completion of a deal to capture Joao Neves, a highly talented young player from Benfica, to strengthen their midfield.

The current champions of Ligue 1 will need to create space in their squad for this costly acquisition and are prepared to lower Ugarte’s desired price to approximately £49.8m (59 million euros).

The appraisal is in line with Manchester United’s willingness to pay for the Uruguayan player, who is currently out of favour. The Red Devils are prepared to offer approximately £46.4m (55 million euros). There is still a discrepancy of £3 million in valuation, but it is a negotiable matter that may be resolved.

The crucial determinant in this situation is that Luis Enrique, the manager of PSG, does not foresee a future for Ugarte in his team, and so, it is impractical to retain a player who is unlikely to participate in matches. By selling him, the French club will acquire funds that can be used to other purposes, but it appears that they are not currently in need of further funds.

This could also explain why Manchester United is being patient and adopting a strategic approach in the ongoing negotiations with Ugarte. PSG will eventually reach a point when they actively seek to sell the player, providing an opportunity for the Red Devils to benefit.

Man Utd greatly benefited from their decision not to accept the offer of roughly £59m.

The increased valuation of PSG at £49.8m appears to be more justifiable, and it is likely that the purchase will be finalised by all parties in the near future.
