Officially, Manchester United has finalised the signing of the most sought-after player in Europe for £50 million. After weeks of negotiations, a five-year contract has been signed, and today is the player’s medical.

According to sources, Man Utd is getting closer to signing Mazraoui from Bayern Munich now that West Ham has withdrawn from the competition.

The Mirror said a few days ago that the Bavarians are worth £25 million for their prized possession.

The Hammers were able to reach an agreement on a 20 million euro reduction, but the deal fell through because the parties could not agree on personal terms.

Man Utd is now getting closer and closer to signing Mazraoui from the German powerhouses.

The deal fell through when Rafaela Pimenta, the agent for the 26-year-old defender, and West Ham were unable to come to an agreement.

Man Utd and Bayern Munich are currently in advanced negotiations to finalise the signing of the Moroccan international.

Although Mazraoui was born in the Netherlands and played for Ajax under Erik ten Hag’s supervision for a number of appearances before moving to Germany, he has made 28 appearances for the African country.

It follows that the Manchester United manager’s desire to get back together with yet another former player at Old Trafford is not shocking.

But United’s defensive line had multiple serious injuries last season, and signing a player who was sidelined for the bulk of the season makes little sense.

Mazraoui, who played for the Atlas Lions and helped them to the 2022 World Cup semifinals, had a season marred by injuries and only made 15 starts in the Bundesliga.

Football Insider was told by Wyness, the former Chief of Everton:

His track record for injuries isn’t great. Naturally, United will perform medicals, but they frequently withhold information concerning a player’s long-term resiliency.
