OFFICIAL YET: Manchester United announces the verbal agreement to sign a £70 million superstar after defeating Chelsea for His six-year contract was agreed upon last night, and hundreds of Manchester United supporters flocked to Old Trafford to see the team’s biggest summer signing this morning.

Man Utd appears to be interested in more than just Matthijs de Ligt at Bayern Munich this summer. The Red Devils have added a new name to their list of transfer targets, although the Dutchman still tops the list.

The news that West Ham United and Manchester United are examining a deal to sign Noussair Mazraoui was first reported by journalist Florian Plettenberg. The player will be free to leave Bayern and is eager to join the Premier League.

The reporter continues, “It will only take €15–20 million to sign the player this summer.” The Moroccan international hasn’t had the kind of career he had hoped for since joining Bayern in 2022, but most of their players haven’t had the kind of season they’ve had recently.

On the other hand, Mazraoui is a flexible player who can play on the left or right side of the field. Because of Achraf Hakimi, he frequently represents his country at LB.

According to a report published by The Mirror today, the German powerhouses are willing to pay over £25 million for the former Ajax defender. The Hammers have opted not to spend more than £15 million, while Man Utd is attempting to finalise a deal for about £18 million.

The article does clarify, though, that United may only pursue the 26-year-old if they sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The English defender, who may go this summer, has generated conflicting feelings during his tenure at Old Trafford.

Another player that was previously trained by Ten Hag at Ajax is Mazraoui. He progressed through the Dutch club’s youth divisions and made a big impression on the Red Devils coach. But this is a concerning pattern.

Although there is nothing wrong with a coach selecting individuals with whom he has experience and familiarity, this type of signing seems to be used excessively. Ten Hag’s performance during the previous two seasons has also been inconsistent.

The offensive prowess of Wan-Bissaka is inferior to that of Mazraoui. It’s still unclear, though, if he can flourish in the Premier League defensively.

Nevertheless, this may be a transfer coup given the amount being offered. Let’s observe how this transfer plays out for a while.
