Manchester United appears to be entering a new age, and with it enthusiasm about what might occur in the future.

At Old Trafford, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos Group have been making little but significant adjustments, some of which have occurred in the last few days. After leaving Newcastle earlier this week, Dan Ashworth’s appointment as United’s new sporting director was officially announced.

Erik ten Hag has inked a new deal with United, the club has also revealed. The Reds manager has pledged to stay at Old Trafford until 2026, and preparations for the upcoming campaign will start as soon as possible.

The summer transfer market is now open, and numerous possible new acquisitions for United have been mentioned. The Reds are reported to be eager to bolster their centre-back position this summer.

Matthijs de Ligt, a quality player for Bayern Munich, is a target for United, but he is presently competing for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. The Reds are also interested in Jarrad Branthwaite, defender for Everton.

Joao Neves, a star for Benfica, is another midfield player who may be targeted by United. According to reports, Benfica is unlikely to accept a compensation any less than £100 million for the release of the Portugal international.

Numerous attacking players have been connected to a move to United. One player that might move to Old Trafford is the striker for Bologna; his contract has a £34 million release clause. The striker is a Netherlands international.

Additionally, there have been speculative reports tying Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, to a transfer to United. This, however, might be the least likely of transactions to go through, unless money was raised by selling one of the team’s key players, Marcus Rashford.

If Rashford is permitted to leave United, there’s a chance that a successor will be found. Being able to recruit Osimhen, who is seen to be one of Europe’s most gifted strikers, would be a dream come true for United.

A number of the current players at the team are still thought to be essential components of United’s roster. Next season, Ten Hag’s first-choice starting lineup may include Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Amad Diallo.

If United were to recruit everyone of the aforementioned players, the Old Trafford team would undoubtedly gain much-needed depth and talent. It should be noted, though, that the lineup shown below is a “dream” lineup and might not come to pass.

Dream squad for United in 2024–2025: Onana; Garnacho, Osimhen, Amad; Neves, Mainoo, Fernandes; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Shaw
