Player Remains at Manchester United Despite Talks About Leaving, According to Antony’s Agent

According to his agency, Antony will remain at Manchester United for an additional season.
Since joining the Red Devils for £82 million in 2022, the Brazilian has made a point of lying. Earlier this summer, there were rumours that suggested United may be open to splitting ways.
Mason Mount, another expensive United addition who has fallen short of expectations, may depart for Aston Villa, who have expressed interest in signing him.

After talking with the team about his future, Junior Pedroso, Antony’s agent, informed Fabrizio Romano that the player would be staying at Manchester United for at least another season.

With just one goal and one assist in 29 Premier League games, Antony had a terrible second season at Old Trafford. ESPN revealed last week that, following the Brazilian’s £86 million transfer from Ajax in 2022, United would be open to loaning the player out during this window, given his lack of performance.

The 24-year-old is anticipated to stay in the northwest for at least another year, possibly as a last-ditch effort, according to his representatives, who have rejected this notion. According to Romano, there were discussions between Antony’s group and the Red Devils’ management, and an agreement was made allowing him to remain for the summer.

Antony Will Remain at United
The winger has fallen short of what was anticipated.

Born in Sao Paulo, Antony progressed through the youth system of the Brazilian team before having a breakthrough year with Tricolour Paulista in 2019. His outstanding season earned him a move to Europe in 2020, when he signed a £18.2 million contract to join Ajax.

After a successful first two seasons at Amsterdam, where he scored 25 goals in 82 games for the Dutch team, Antony completed a sensational move to the northwest of England in 2022, paying an incredible £86 million to join United. Expectations were high that he would perform well in a Red Devils shirt after becoming the esteemed club’s third-most expensive signing in history.

The player, who scored just three goals in all competitions last season, hasn’t exactly lived up to the promise he showed in the Netherlands, even after two years in Manchester. Romano has refuted the reports that United was eager to move on this summer, which were sparked by this.

Speaking on his channel on YouTube, the reporter stated:

“Recent sources suggested that Antony might be going on loan from the team, if that a team is willing to cover the player’s wage. I got the opportunity to speak with Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, in an exclusive interview, and he told me that Antony’s goal is to remain at Manchester United. Nothing else is on our schedule.

“This is what the player’s agent is stating. Additionally, we spoke with Man United, and we had already had a discussion about that. Thus, following a challenging season, Antony’s camp is optimistic that Anthony will remain at Manchester United, compete there, and have one more opportunity at the club. This is the message from Junior Pedroso, the player’s agent. Thus, we’ll have to wait and see what happens over the following few weeks.”

With Alejandro Garnacho dominating last season, Amad Diallo starting to establish himself in the first squad, and Jadon Sancho potentially returning from his loan to play for United next season, Antony may find it challenging to get minutes in the upcoming campaign. Better results are going to be needed, or else he’s going to be fired by summertime.

Mount Might Quit the Union
Villa is reportedly linked to the midfield player.

Although Antony will remain at United, another high-profile signing from recent years may be leaving this summer. Aston Villa is rumoured to have discussed a possible transfer with Mason Mount’s group in order to strengthen their midfield options in front of the Champions League campaign the following year.

Mount joined Carrington from Chelsea in a summer transfer of £60 million, but he hasn’t adjusted to life in the northwest. The England international, who may be surplus to requirements this window, made just 20 appearances for the FA Cup winners in his debut season in Manchester despite injury concerns. He also scored just one goal.
