Ruben Amorim sends blunt message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe over Kobbie Mainoo’s Man Utd exit
It has been brought to the attention of Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United, that there have been rumours circulating that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is interested in joining Chelsea, the Red Devils’ Premier League opponents.
Despite the fact that Ruben Amorim has expressed his desire to maintain Kobbie Mainoo, he has acknowledged that it may be challenging for Manchester United to retain their home-grown players.
Amorim stated that United is currently experiencing a “hard moment” in terms of retaining academy graduates, one of which is Marcus Rashford, who is currently on exile.
Despite the fact that Manchester United is now in negotiations with Mainoo over a new contract, the possibility of United cashing in on the England midfielder has increased due to profit and sustainability regulations (PSR), which stipulate that academy players be counted as pure profit on the balance sheet.
With the knowledge that United would be unable to refuse a deal in the area of £70 million for the 19-year-old sensation, Chelsea is keeping a close eye on the contract issue with Mainoo.
The current wage that Mainoo receives from United is £20,000 per week; however, his agents are requesting a pay increase that would bring his remuneration up to £180,000 per week.
Amorin has reaffirmed his desire to keep the midfielder, and United is sure that they will be able to reach a compromise figure with Mainoo’s side.
The statement made by Amorim was, “My players are always my favourites.” Since I have a deep affection for my players, I would like to keep them, particularly the outstanding ones.
“Although it is a challenging time, I am quite pleased with Kobbie since he is making progress.
“We always have the intention of retaining the greatest players and the players that we create for this club, but we are aware of the situation that the club is now in [with regard to potential star rating]. We shall see what happens. I have a fondness for the players, particularly the young men who came from the academy.
Sometimes the profile for this system is different, and the players that arrived here with a different understanding of how to play can have different expectations.
The fact that I desire new players is something that I don’t remember saying it so explicitly. When it comes to recruiting players, we need to make sure that they are able to meet the requirements, and we need to increase our recruitment efforts.
“We need to develop our academy by recruiting young children who have a positive impression of the club, and we need to implement some commercial practices in order to get a large number of people to invest in the squad.
“Our goal is to always keep the greatest players and the players that we create for this club, but we are aware of the situation that the club is in at the moment. We shall see what happens. I have a fondness for the players, particularly the young men who came from the academy.
When Amorim was asked if Rashford, who has not been included in any of United’s matchday squads for the past five matches, would be travelling with the group for the FA Cup match against Arsenal on Sunday, he said, “We will see, guys.” We should concentrate on the game. We will observe how he performs in this game, but he is available and he is training.
