Victor Gyokeres, a target for Manchester United, acknowledges that he may depart Sporting Lisbon at the end of this year.

Gyokeres, a Swedish striker, has emerged as Europe’s most exciting prospect after his incredible performances with the Portuguese champions. This season, Gyokeres has scored 23 goals in just 16 games.

The 26-year-old’s deal has a €100 million (£84 million) release clause. However, it is believed that if Gyokeres was willing to stay at Sporting through the conclusion of this season, Sporting president Frederico Varandas agreed to examine proposals in the neighbourhood of €80 million (£67 million).

Some of the biggest clubs in Europe will be on high alert after hearing the news, which is likely to lead to a crazy rush for his signature come summertime. Additionally, United will be among the favourites to sign Gyokeres because they have hired Ruben Amorim, the player’s former Sporting manager.

When Amorim and Gyokeres were living together in Lisbon, they had a close friendship. United is in dire need of a top-tier finisher because they are among the Premier League’s lowest scorers this season.

“These are rumours, nothing solid,” he stated. I enjoy my time at Sporting, so of course I want to end the season there. I’m not anxious about changing things in the future. When the time comes, we’ll see.

Gyokeres acknowledged that he was disappointed that Amorim had departed to join United, saying, “It’s very sad that he left, but of course we understand the decision.”
