Legendary Argentine football player Hernan Crespo, the manager of Al Ain, vehemently objected to a red card from the touchline, but Mane was permitted to continue playing.

In order to overcome a 1-0 deficit, the Saudi Pro League team gave up two more goals before Abdulrahman Ghareeb tied the score near the end of the first half. The game changed dramatically in the second half as Al-Nassr equalized through goals from Alex Telles and Khalid Eisa. In the 103rd minute, Sultan Al-Shamsi gave the UAE club their lead back overall, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s last-minute penalty kick conversion ensured that the game would go to a shootout. Crespo’s team won the match 3-1 in the penalty shootout to advance to the semi-final.
