The views of Sir Alex Ferguson on the plans for a brand new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 have been made public after Manchester United made the announcement of new plans for the stadium.

A statement was made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in response to the unveiling of conceptual images and scaled models designed by the architect Lord Norman Foster, which took place on Tuesday at the headquarters of Foster + Partners in London.

“Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting journey to the delivery of what will be the world’s greatest football stadium, at the centre of a regenerated Old Trafford,” Ratcliffe stated in an interview on Tuesday.

“Over the course of the past 115 years, our current stadium has been of tremendous service to us; however, it has currently fallen behind the best arenas in the world of sports.

“By building next to the existing site, we will be able to preserve the essence of Old Trafford, while creating a truly state-of-the-art stadium that transforms the fan experience only footsteps from our historic home.”

In addition to being the largest stadium in the United Kingdom, the stadium is also expected to be constructed on the same land as Old Trafford, which has served as Manchester United’s home since 1910.

It was increased to 76,000 in 2006, and the possibility of redeveloping the Theatre of Dreams was investigated; however, the iconic stadium will instead be demolished in order to make room for a contemporary replacement. This decision was made in accordance with the decisions that were made by the Old Trafford Regeneration Task force.

Consultations were held with supporters, and Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary manager of Manchester United, has expressed his support for the project.

“Manchester United should always strive for the best in everything it does, on and off the pitch, and that includes the stadium we play in,” Ferguson stated, according to the sports network ESPN.

“Old Trafford holds so many special memories for me personally, but we must be brave and seize this opportunity to build a new home, fit for the future, where new history can be made.”

The project, which has secured funding from the government for the revitalisation of the area, has the potential to be built within five years and could also result in the construction of the construction of 17,000 new homes.

On the other hand, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham stated in September that United are not looking for public funding to finance the stadium, which is anticipated to cost approximately two billion pounds.
