Barry Bannan, Sheffield Wednesday’s captain, has revealed that he would be willing to speak with former Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri if he contacted him following his departure from Hillsborough.

Wednesday and the business through which he owns the stadium were thrown into administration by Chansiri on Friday, after months of financial and off-field upheaval.

This decision marked the end of his turbulent ten-year stint with the club. Players and staff regularly got their wages late during Chansiri’s final months in office due to financial concerns. Bannan, the club’s captain, called the Thai businessman and long-serving defender Liam Palmer several times to discuss the problem.

He also had to answer questions from anxious team members and personnel. Despite receiving attention from other clubs, Bannan signed a new contract with the Owls this summer at a drastically lower salary. In addition to setting a good example off the field, the 35-year-old has been a standout performer for his club on the pitch, scoring two goals and giving two assists in 14 games this season.

Following Wednesday’s 12-point deduction due to their administration, they are now at the bottom of the Championship standings, trailing by six points and 16 points from safety. However, it is believed that four or five legitimate companies have already expressed interest in the club, and a takeover might be completed by the end of this year. It has also been revealed that all Owls players and staff will receive their October salaries on time on Friday, after the club’s administrators’ successful efforts to acquire finance.
Many Hillsborough residents will be relieved to hear this news, which comes after months of uncertainty and delayed payments. Barry Bannan recognizes Dejphon Chansiri’s role following Sheffield Wednesday’s departure.

Bannan joined Wednesday on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2015, during the first transfer window under Chansiri.

The Scot stated that he would be willing to speak with the previous proprietor, despite his anticipation that he would not receive a phone call from him in the near future. “I do not have a direct point of contact with him; I communicate with him and participate in Zoom meetings through Lindsey Hinton, the club secretary,” Bannan told the newspaper. “I am uncertain as to whether he will engage in conversation with me; however, I will engage in conversation with him if he wishes.”

“Nevertheless, I would guess that he is currently reluctant to engage in conversation with anyone, as it is likely a difficult time for him as well.” “I have no reservations about engaging in conversation with him.” “I have been with him for a decade, and he has been beneficial to my family and me on the majority of occasions.”

“I would be remiss to decline to engage in conversation with him if he were to reach out.” Sheffield Wednesday supporters will not be surprised by Barry Bannan’s position on Dejphon Chansiri.
