The Main Reason Why David de Gea ‘rejects Premier League move’ due to Man Utd loyalties

De Gea, a free agent who left Manchester United some 12 months ago, has apparently turned down the opportunity to return to the Premier League.

As the free agent keeps looking for a new team, David de Gea has apparently turned down the opportunity to rejoin the Premier League. Although he will not be joining one of the Red Devils’ rivals, the former Manchester United custodian provided a significant clue that he was ultimately close to securing a free move after spending a full 2023-24 season without a team.

On Saturday, ex-Spain international De Gea sent a mysterious tweet on his X account featuring just an hour-glass emoji. In the realm of football transfers, this kind of statement on social media may have been seen as a warning that the Spaniard was ready to confirm a move to a new team.

There was a lot of conjecture that the 33-year-old would have made the shocking choice to go back to the Premier League with another team than Manchester United.

While there are also teams in Italy, Saudi Arabia, and the USA considering a move for the seasoned stopper, one unidentified English club ‘expressed interest’ in signing De Gea, according The Athletic.

After serving Old Trafford for 12 years, the article claims De Gea is not interested in returning to the UK. He is anticipated to resolve his future, though, by next week as teams queue for his signature.

De Gea signed in 2011 at the tail end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure in Manchester, and made 545 appearances for United in his 12 seasons there.

Once Edwin van der Sar departed, he proved to be a bargain buy for £20.5million from Atletico Madrid since he emerged as the top custodian for the team.
