Top Transfer Journalist names Man United’s top midfield target this summer in £40m Brazilian star
Transfer writer Ben Jacobs has stated that Manchester United has identified Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers as their primary choice to strengthen their midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window.
It has been claimed that the Red Devils are seeking to strengthen their team in the upcoming transfer window in order to increase their chances for the next season, following a catastrophic performance this year.
Erik ten Hag’s primary objective is purportedly to overhaul the defense, while concurrently aiming to bolster the midfield through the acquisition of a new player.
Gomes is reportedly being considered as a potential transfer target, along with a few other players like as Amadou Onana, Joao Neves, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who have also been linked to a move to Old Trafford.
According to Jacobs, who was speaking on GiveMeSport, Manchester United is aiming to enhance their midfield prowess and has singled out Gomes as a prominent candidate.
The top midfield target for Manchester United has been identified.
The reporter acknowledges that the potential inclusion of the Red Devils in this position will depend on the departure of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Scott McTominay, since their future plans remain uncertain.
Jacobs stated:
Joao Gomes is considered one of Manchester United’s primary choices for midfield recruitment. Firstly, it should be noted that the composition of the midfield, particularly in relation to the position of Casemiro, will be contingent upon his potential departure. There is a strong interest from Saudi Arabia.
“Christian Eriksen has expressed dissatisfaction with the amount of time he has been given to play, indicating that he may also be leaving the team.” Manchester United places a high value on Scott McTominay, despite the expected interest in him. Nevertheless, he has been associated with other teams during the recent transfer windows.
“Therefore, it is expected that Manchester United will seek to enhance that specific section of their midfield, provided that the departures enable them to create room in the squad, allocate sufficient wages, and acquire the necessary funds.”
The asking price for the Man United target has been set at £40 million by Wolves.
Manchester United will be required to pay a significant amount of money in order to acquire the services of the Brazilian player. Reports suggest that Wolves may consider a price of approximately £40 million to sell him.
The South American player has demonstrated glimpses of his exceptional skill in the Premier League. It would be a prudent decision for the Red Devils to acquire the services of this midfielder.
