Wolves summer signing the subject of astonishing live TV blunder by Dutch icon Marco van Basten

Wolves receive Yerson Mosquera injury update from Colombia as greater fear still looms

One Wolves summer signing has made the headlines in the Netherlands for a bizarre reason, which occurred on national television.

Gary O’Neil welcomed eight faces to Molineux during the summer transfer window in the bid to bolster his Wolves squad.

Unfortunately, the manager is still waiting to see proof of his side being strengthened, as Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League table with just one point on the board.

From early business to three last-gasp deadline day arrivals, it was a busy summer for the Old Gold, but it’s yet to be known if enough was done.

Marco van Basten makes Carlos Forbs blunder after Wolves transfer

The last of Wolves’ summer arrivals was Carlos Forbs, who will call Molineux home for at least the 2024/25 campaign, securing a loan deal from Ajax.

Forbs, who is a product of Manchester City’s academy, joined Wolves on an initial loan with an option to buy, a deal that will be made obligatory if the winger makes 10 starts.

Back in Amsterdam, Jordan Henderson admitted Ajax are struggling without Forbs however, that is not an opinion shared by all associated with the club.

Ajax legend and Dutch hero Marco van Basten made his thoughts on Forbs clear in the past however, recent comments prove he’s not kept up with the 20-year-old’s movements.

Speaking during Dutch channel Ziggo Sport’s broadcast of Rondo, van Basten made a blunder as he admitted he wasn’t aware that Forbs had left Ajax in the summer, via Ajax Fanatics.

The exchange started with former Ajax goalkeeper Remko Pasveer, who described Forbs’ transfer to Wolves as ‘unexpected’.

“It was unexpected that both Bergwijn and Forbs were sold just before the transfer window closed, without a new winger being signed, which is what we would have liked. This is a problem.”

Van Basten then replied to Pasveer’s comments by asking, “Is Forbs gone too?” suggesting that he was not aware that the forward was no longer a part of Francesco Farioli’s side.

Wolves had to do more in the summer transfer window

It was a remarkable blunder by van Basten, just as the summer transfer window proved to be a bit of a blunder for Wolves.

While the Old Gold did welcome eight top talents, one crucial position was unable to be replenished, as O’Neil and Matt Hobbs failed to sign an experienced centre-back.
