Fabrizio Romano has reported that Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi are being considered as potential replacements for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Liverpool is currently searching for a new manager in light of Klopp’s decision to resign from the position.

Nevertheless, Romano is of the opinion that no choices will be finalized until Liverpool has selected a new sporting director.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool has included both Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi on their official list of potential managers to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are presently seeking a new manager to succeed Klopp at the conclusion of the season, following the announcement by the esteemed German boss that he will be resigning from the position in the summer. Contrary to popular belief, Liverpool has been discreetly preparing for a potential replacement for Klopp for several months. They have been actively scouting and evaluating potential candidates for the position.

Anticipated summer changes are expected to occur at Anfield.

Jürgen Klopp is the manager of Liverpool Football Club.

The announcement of Klopp’s resignation mid-season has caused significant shock and raised numerous questions among the Liverpool dressing room, fanbase, and the wider footballing community. According to sources from the Athletic, the Liverpool players are trying to take advantage of the situation and see the last half of the 2023/24 season as a farewell period with their long-time manager, considering it a ‘last dance’.

However, off the field, Liverpool is expected to experience a tumultuous period as they strive to reconstruct and ready themselves for the post-Klopp era. The process will commence with the selection of a new sporting director, as the current occupant, Jorg Schmadtke, is expected to vacate his role in the near future.

Schmadtke, who assumed the position in the summer, was always regarded as a temporary placeholder, since the Reds are now seeking a permanent solution to lead their managerial search.
