“You are right” – Mauricio Pochettino says fans were right to boo Raheem Sterling but need to defends Chelsea star over missed penalty
Mauricio Pochettino says the supporters had every right to jeer Raheem Sterling, but he must stand up for the Chelsea player after he missed a penalty.
Following Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal, Mauricio Pochettino launched an impassioned defense of Raheem Sterling.
However, he went on to say that supporters had every right to jeer the player who gave a terrible performance at Stamford Bridge to help Chelsea advance to the FA Cup semifinals.
The home team led 3-0 at the half thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer, but Jakub Stolarczyk’s save of Sterling’s bad penalty kick should have put them ahead 3-0.
Regular penalty taker Cole Palmer gave the England winger the spot kick, and captain Conor Gallagher came under fire for letting the incident get out of control. However, Pochettino stood by his team and stated that the players should make these decisions.
In his press conference following the game, the manager stated, “For me, the decision is there, and I am going to support the decision of my players on the pitch.”
Consistently pleased with their choice.
Although I won’t be standing by Sterling, I understand that his feelings weren’t good. His resume is amazing. playing as a veteran for large teams.
He missed a penalty and a few opportunities today, but we will still back him.
Sterling was regularly and loudly jeered by his own fans after wasting more opportunities to score, including sending a free kick into row Z, before being substituted in the 86th minute.
Strangely, Pochettino stated that although he would always stand up for the 29-year-old, supporters were free to make fun of him.
“I believe that [fans were right to boo]; we just have to accept the circumstances,” he continued.
Similar to when I attempt to clarify the circumstances on the squad. to further clarify for the fans. Accepting whether or not to agree is necessary. Every fan is driven by expectation and a desire for the team to succeed.
“We must help him; he is an incredible player.” He has worked in the Premier League for over ten years.
It’s okay for fans to express their feelings. For us, it’s important to emphasize to our fans not to pass judgment. They wish the best for the players and our team.
But we’re working on a project. We require encouragement and a sincere belief. Our goal is to construct something.
