Martin Keown referred to a fan of Arsenal as “disillusioned” due to his pessimistic outlook on the club, which means that their chances of winning the title are almost certainly over for another season.

Liverpool has increased their lead over the Gunners at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points as a result of their recent loss to West Ham.

The fact that the club is currently without its four most important forwards—Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus—has led many Tottenham Hotspur supporters to believe that the gap will only widen in the future.

As a result of the upcoming matches against Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, and Chelsea, Arsenal may find themselves in a position where they are competing for a top four spot in the event that they experience a decline in their performance.

Trevor, an Arsenal supporter, called the White and Jordan show and suggested that Mikel Arteta should be fired if he fails to win any silverware for the second time in a row. Trevor’s call was prompted by the situation that they were living in.

With a terrible run to the final, Arsenal will need a lot of luck, which is something that hasn’t gone their way this season. However, the Champions League presents the most likely opportunity for success for Arsenal.

There was also a great deal of criticism directed towards Arteta’s transfer business in recent years, as he had not been successful in acquiring a striker during his tenure up until this point.

Despite the fact that Havertz and Jesus have been brought in, neither of them are traditional centre forwards, nor are they reliable goal scorers, despite the fact that they frequently lead the line.

Trevor expressed his opinion: “I think it’s a miracle now if we end up winning the Champions League, and I think if that doesn’t happen, it’s time for a change with Arteta.”

Additionally, he stated, “I can’t see why on earth we have to keep on depending on Arteta to get us over the line. I believe that he was fortunate to get the job as his first managerial job when he had no experience of being a manager before.”

“In the more than five and a half years that he has been there, he has never purchased a striker, not even a single striker, and he has always been successful in getting rid of every other striker.

“He fell out with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, he got rid of him, [Alexandre] Lacazette and [Eddie] Nketiah and he has never replaced them with an out-and-out striker, and if Martin can tell me something different, I’ll be prepared to listen.”

Keown, who was in the spotlight, was quick to defend Arteta, but he was also left in a state of disbelief by Trevor’s outrage.

The legendary Gunners player made the following remark: “Well, Jesus was considered to be a striker, and Havertz was considered to be a striker; that gives us between £90 million and £100 million for just two players.”

Do you agree that we are referring to the type of striker that we are talking about? There is a lot of work that is done outside the box by both of these guys, and I believe that Arteta has gone for that collective approach with the way that he plays.

I’m just curious as to why you are so disillusioned with what you’re seeing, Trevor. “And the out-and-out striker is someone who hasn’t yet arrived, and I think that’s going to happen,” he said.

“Do you not feel now that this Arsenal team is much more in the fight when they play games?”

Keown then went on to say that “one or two more signings” could be enough for Arsenal to win their first league championship since 2004. He praised Arteta for turning Arsenal into regular title contenders, and he went on to say that this could be enough for this to happen.

However, Trevor was not going to get along with this, and he stated, “It’s been twenty years now that we’ve been waiting for a league title, and every time we’re falling short.”

As a rookie manager, I am saying that there may be certain flaws within Arteta that he has not had the experience to deal with. I am not disagreeing with Martin’s point that there has been improvement under Arteta; however, I am saying that there may be certain flaws within him.

“And each time we get close enough, he just doesn’t get us over the queue.”

Keown is of the opinion that the vast majority of Arsenal supporters will continue to back Arteta, despite the fact that he has a disagreement with one of the club’s supporters.

“No,” the 58-year-old said in response to a question from talkSPORT.com about whether or not he is concerned that fans might soon turn against the Spaniard. To my mind, that is not how it is.

When you look at [Mesut] Ozil and Aubameyang, there was a lot of deadwood that needed to be gotten rid of. I believe that he has been building over the course of the past five years.

There were a lot of players there who weren’t doing their jobs properly, and the culture wasn’t working properly; he needed to make those changes.

Your Champions League football has not impacted your league position in any way, and if anything, it has improved it in the past year. “And don’t forget, you’ve been away from the Champions League for six years, and now you’re in second place for the second consecutive year.

“This is the first time that you have thought, ‘OK, I’m liking the kids [Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly] come through because they are doing a good job.

Nevertheless, we are asking too much of Nwaneri to fill in for Saka for as long as he is unavailable, and I don’t believe that you are able to plan for that particular circumstance.

Because of this, I believe that the fans will comprehend that, because they are intelligent and they are aware of the situation.

“However, it is possible that the following year will be a significant season in which you will be looking to accomplish something, to win something, and the group and the team both require it in order to be a part of the club’s history.
