Advisor backs ‘madman’ Viktor Gyokeres to join Arsenal as Man Utd fall back in huge transfer race
Once the adviser of the Sporting CP striker, Viktor Gyokeres, outlined why a transfer to the Gunners would fit him better than a move to Manchester United, Arsenal cannot be disregarded from the race to sign him. However, the Swede’s ideas about a move to the Red Devils might also count against Arsenal.
Gyokeres is now the most exciting striker in the world of football. Since transferring to the Portuguese capital from Coventry City, he has scored an astounding 66 goals in 68 matches, making him the most prolific attacker in the world. Sporting have excellent reason to think that they can more than quadruple that original investment due to a big escape option in his contract and amid strong ties to the Premier League in 2025. This is because Sporting paid a low price of €20 million (£16.6 million, $21 million) for the Swede in the summer of 2023.
Arsenal has been leading that pursuit for a considerable amount of time. During the summer, Arsenal expressed serious interest in acquiring the 26-year-old player, but ultimately decided to make a move for Benjamin Sesko instead. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta made the decision to go with Kai Havertz in a more central attacking role after the attempt to acquire the RB Leipzig player was unsuccessful. Despite this, Arsenal’s interest in acquiring the player has not diminished significantly.
Nevertheless, as a result of Ruben Amorim’s decision to leave Sporting and join Manchester United earlier this month, many people now consider Manchester United to be the most likely candidates to acquire Gyokeres in the year 2025. The partnership between the two was extremely beneficial, as evidenced by the fact that they won the Primeira Liga championship together. The striker credited the head coach, who was 39 years old at the time, with considerably assisting him in his ascent to prominence in the game.
However, the athlete’s close confidant and former Gunners star Anders Limpar has said that he has advised him to choose Arsenal as his next club. Limpar has stated that the youngster should not look any further than Arsenal.
Personally, I am extremely familiar with Gyokeres, and at the time that he was playing for Brommapojkarna, I served as a mentor to him. Ludwig Augustinsson was also a member of that team. I have had a lot of conversations with him regarding his work life,” Limpar said in an interview with FotbollDirekt.
To put it simply, he is a very hard-working forward who scores a great deal of goals. In the event that we at Arsenal were to purchase Gyokeres, he would most certainly get in touch with me. However, if Gyokeres were to play for Arsenal, it would be absolutely insane.
Limpar continued by praising the striker’s greatest traits, making the following statement: “His work rate, he runs like a madman.” In situations where things do not go according to Viktor’s plan, he makes his way into the game by going through painful runs.
“In situations where other top strikers are not performing well, they tend to store their energy and not put in as much effort for the team. Viktor, on the other hand, never reserves his energy. He is able to push his way into a game with runs when things are proceeding at a slower pace, which is the reason why everything has gone so well.
A move is discussed, and Gyokeres explains why he would be a good fit for the Premier League.
Limpar, who is now 59 years old and played for Arsenal between the years 1990 and 1994, asserts that the striker would be well suited to the Premier League and would have the abilities to pick up where he left off immediately.
“It is important to keep in mind that the Portuguese league is not as good as the Premier League; nonetheless, when Manchester City came to visit Lisbon, he scored a hat-trick, which indicates that he is absolutely capable of scoring in England.
Because he has scored goals while playing for Coventry, he is familiar with the attitude of the English. Limpar expressed his conclusion by saying, “I believe that his next step is to play in the Premier League, and he has the ability to really choose which team he wants to play for.”
While sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that the Gunners are still very much interested in Gyokeres, and we have been told that Mikel Arteta’s side cannot be discounted from the race to sign the striker, the player himself is adamant that he will spend the rest of the season in Portugal at the very least. This comes after the player scored four goals for his country in a 6-0 Nations League thrashing of Azerbaijan.
During an interview with Fotbollskanalen, Gyokeres stated, “It’s fun, but it’s not something I attach any importance to because it’s talk.” As far as I can tell, they are nothing but rumours. It is, without a doubt, my goal to complete the season at Sporting. My time spent there is enjoyable.
With regard to speculation of a transfer to Old Trafford in January, he continued by saying, “He [Amorim] probably already has some strikers there, so we’ll see.” But that is not something that I give much thought to. Obviously, you want to finish the season at Sporting, and I have a good time there, so there is no need for me to worry about making a transfer in the future. Let’s wait and see when the timing is right.”
He continued by saying, “It is very sad that he is leaving, but of course we understand his decision.” He was referring to Amorim.
In light of the fact that he provided me with that opportunity and that he pushed me to grow so much, it is clear that he has meant a great deal to me. Having said that, we are excited to begin working with the new coach.
On the other hand, we have been informed by reliable sources that there is a growing consensus among the Primeira Liga club personnel that he will be permitted to leave the team at the conclusion of the current season. As a result of this, Sporting will have no alternative but to sell the player to the highest bidder during the summer transfer window. We are aware that there is a significant possibility that Gyokeres will be a player in the Premier League by the time the 2025/26 season rolls around.
It has also been stated, although it has not been proven at this time, that Gyokeres does not want to transfer to Old Trafford. He believes that the Red Devils are too far behind the very best teams in England, and that if he moves there, there is a strong probability that he would not be able to participate in the Champions League, at the very least until the beginning of the next season.
The most recent transfer news from Arsenal includes a fantastic Arda Guler plan and Isak’s continued interest.
Gyokeres is not the only Swedish striker that Arsenal is interested in, and our transfer correspondent Fraser Gillan has revealed this week that the club is still very interested in Alexander Isak, who is an attacker for Newcastle.
As a means of enhancing their prospects, Newcastle has announced the price at which they intend to sell the striker. Additionally, they have identified two prospective successors for their tall and lanky striker who stands at 6 feet 4 inches.
Real Madrid star Arda Guler, who has been disgruntled by his lack of opportunities at the Bernabeu this season, is reportedly interested in making an intriguing transfer to join Arsenal. Meanwhile, the Gunners are being linked with an interesting move for Guler.
It has been stated that the Gunners are interested in signing the player on loan with the intention of committing to a permanent transfer. This move has been dubbed “Martin Odegaard 2.0.”
Arsenal is being referred to as the “standouts” in the competition to acquire the services of Las Palmas’ talented winger Alberto Moleiro. This is in response to speculation that the winger may follow in the footsteps of Barcelona’s renowned Pedri.
It has been communicated to the attacker that he is able to depart for a cost that is not very high. He is capable of playing either as a central midfielder or off the left flank.
