‘All Over the Place’ – Chelsea Star’s Display in Champions League Shocker vs Qarabag Slammed

A lackluster Chelsea side salvaged a point with a 2-2 draw away to Azerbaijani minnows Qarabag on Wednesday night, and one of Enzo Maresca’s summer recruits has come under fire for a poor performance.

Estevao, who was in good form, gave the Blues the lead in the 16th minute, but the hosts equalized in the 29th minute through Leandro Andrade. Gurban Gurbanov’s team then gained a merited lead from the penalty spot in the 39th minute, as Marko Jankovic sent Robert Sanchez the wrong way.

Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench and scored his first goal for the club in the 53rd minute, bringing Maresca’s side level. The two teams eventually settled for a draw, which will be frustrating for the Premier League heavyweights, who were big favourites to win their third Champions League game of the season.

Qarabag 2-2 Chelsea: Jorrel Hato ‘All Over the Place’

Chelsea was once again busy this summer, spending well over £280 million on new players, including talented Dutch defender Jorrel Hato. The 19-year-old joined from Ajax for £39 million after rising through the Eredivisie ranks.

Hato has had a poor start at Stamford Bridge, so Maresca gave him a chance to impress against Qarabag. The teenager did not make the most of his sixth start of the season, and was partially responsible for both of the home team’s goals.

Some weak defending allowed the Azerbaijani team to capitalize and Andrade to equalize. He then handled in his own area, giving the opposition a penalty, and Colombian winger Camilo Duran played with him all night.

Shay Given assessed Hato’s performance as a commentator for TNT Sports, and the former Newcastle United goalkeeper expressed his concerns:

“They deserve to lead at halftime. Hato in the back is all over the place. You don’t want to be too harsh; he’s a young centre-half, only 19. “He gets tangled up.”

Hato is only getting started in west London, but performances like his one in Baku will raise questions about the club’s recruitment strategy. Maresca was probably crying out for an experienced defender to assist him deal with Levi Colwill’s absence.

Fans Slam ‘Absolutely Useless’ Hato.

Hato’s nervous performance did not go unnoticed by fans, who were less courteous than Given when rating his night to forget. X user TouchlineX wrote:

“Jorrel Hato is having the worst night of his career! HE GAVE AWAY THE FIRST GOAL WITH A TERRIBLE MISTAKE, AND NOW HE GAVE AWAY A PENALTY! WHAT A TERRIBLE NIGHT FOR HATO!”

TikTok user Toby Evenden compared the Dutch teenager’s act to that of flop Tiemoue Bakayoko:

“Bakayoko level from Hato tonight sadly.”

Another fan commented:

“This Hato performance is up there with Ziyech vs Zagreb and Bakayoko vs Watford.”

One admits:

“Hato’s been dreadful. “Really awful.”

Another fan provided an honest assessment:

“Hato is completely useless.” And I mean useless.”

The six-cap Netherlands international was signed with the future in mind, but he was expected to carry his form from his birthplace to Chelsea. He definitely needs time to adjust to life with the west Londoners, who will have a much easier night on Saturday (November 8) against managerless Wolverhampton Wanderers.
