Employees and supporters of Sheffield Wednesday have come together since the team entered administration last Friday.
Julian Pitts, the joint administrator, has officially expressed his appreciation to Sheffield Wednesday’s employees and supporters for their hard work since the team went into administration last Friday.

After months of bloodshed and financial turmoil, Dejphon Chansiri ended his Owls premiership by placing the team into administration.

In protest of the Thai billionaire, thousands of Wednesdayites boycotted last Wednesday night’s 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough at Hillsborough. The decision was made less than 48 hours later.

The administrators begged Owls fans to start contributing to the club within hours of the club officially going into administration, which caused ticket sales for the Oxford United visit this weekend to surge.

There was once again a sense of relief in Hillsborough when more than 27,000 people attended the narrow loss to Gary Rowett’s team. The Owls personnel and supporters’ response to Friday’s events impressed Pitts, who has now acknowledged this.

Pitts praises Wednesday spirit

Pitts told ITV News Calendar, “It’s a hugely attractive club.” “If you only look at Sheffield Wednesday’s history, you can see how incredible the club’s supporters were when I was at the stadium on Saturday.

“This is a fantastic chance for someone to step in and successfully create a new Sheffield Wednesday for the future.

“I must admit that the fans’ support on Friday and Saturday was incredible, but the club staff’s support has also been amazing; they have gone above and beyond to support us as administrators during what was essentially a difficult 24-hour period from our appointment to Saturday’s first home game.

“All credit to the fans and to the club staff for their support and trust to date.”
